Dolphin's search problem!

Hi! I'm having problems with Dolphin's search engine for ‘people’. The problem occurs when one user selects only one field (for example: sex = male) and click on the search button. In this case, there are no results, the engine don’t find any user. I suppose it occurs because Dolphin determines the values of the other fields as default for users that didn’t filled the field in question (default value: 0 = Select one field) and the search results are not presented consistently. Do you know if there is a way to search using only one field in the advanced search?

thanks!

To view the problem, take a look on my site: http://bearz-br.co.cc/search.php

and try to search selecting one field, for exemple, under:

"Aparência:"
"Tipo Físico:" select the field = urso (the value of this fild is = 1)*

then click on the button "buscar"

note that on the addres bar of the browser shows: http://bearz-br.co.cc/search.php?search_mode=simple&Tipo_Fisico[]=1&cor_da_pele[]=0&submit=Buscar

it means that dolphins set the valeus of the others fields that you not selected:

Tipo_Fisico[]=1 (thats ok... you have selected the value urso, that have the 1 value)*
cor_da_pele[]=0 (thats NOT ok... becouse you not have selected this field...)

what can I do to fix it?

*Ps: I'm brazilian and my site are running on portuguese language... and my english is very bad... but I hope you cant understand my problem

thanks!

The 1 in the search string equals true meaning search for that field    the zero in the search string means false  meaning it was not searched for.

1 returns true   0 returns false.

If I understand you correctly, this is a problem many of us have and I think most of us will have eventually.  One of the members here tries to start a pissing contest every time it is mentioned, but Alex from Boonex has partly solved it.   There are still major problems though.  You can join the fun at this link: http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/?action=goto&my_threads=1#topic/HOWTO-create-join-form-field-with-Not-Specified-.htm

Unless you added Alex's mod, and not sure if this will change if you did, doesn't having the select at the top of the pulldown menu do a search for profiles with select one as a profile option?  So if none of the profiles have on it a select one as a profile item, nothing will be returned as nothing was matched.  That is the problem with using dropdown menus for searches, when you put a dropdown menu on the search the first item of each dropdown is a searchable item.  So if you have 3 drop downs for 3 different elements, the search will only return matched profiles if a profile matches part of all 3 searches.

Read this post: http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/HOWTO-create-join-form-field-with-Not-Specified-.htm
Like CALTRADE already said.

It completely solves the problem with single select field, but there is still some problem with multiple select fields.

Alternatively you can wait for 7.0.1
