Downloading mp3 error

Hi there,

Can any help. When ever I try download an mp3 from my site it asks me where to save the file, but doesn't download? Instead a file "flashtmp.tmp" downloads

Is it maybe a setting on the flash player?

Cheers,

Ped

I haven't tested this, does it happen to any sound file you upload and does it make a difference if you upload via the flash uploader v. the regular uploader?

Hello peterWAKA!

Yes, plz specify details of this trouble - is this file playable from Flash Player? What access its album has?

It plays in the flash player.

Doesn't matter what uploader (reg of flash) I use.

The albums are all public and I can't download anything as a guest, admin or standard user.

I have tried this on multiple computers but you may try for yourself;

Your audio files are so huge (an hour long), it takes an extended amount of time to download them, which would seem to explain the .tmp files. Give it time. Especially since your server seems to be a tad slow.

Update: after the file finished downloading, the MP3 file is now visible and performs perfectly fine. Also, you have a great music selection.

How can the MP3 be downloading?

It is a flashtmp.tmp file that downloads, not an MP3 file. Windows and Firefox don't even give me the option to save the file?

I think it's time someone makes a good music download mod!

Any more suggestions or help?

It works, as I have tested it on your site. No download windows beyond the save dialog appears, but it continues to download. The file is roughly 200MB, so it does take awhile to download. Once it is done downloading, the .tmp file changes to become the desired MP3 file. The .tmp file means "temporary file," and is replaced by the actual file when downloading is completed. The downloads appear to be handled by the Flash player itself, which would explain why it is done like this.

Nothing is broken, everything is working. No need for a mod.

Ok, I understnd it downloads. But it isn't very clear to users, and it doesn't look that great.

I want to add a button in the actions area saying "Download" and that will allow users to download it via HTML.

Could any point me in the right direction ie how to make a button in the action area. If I know that then I could do the rest.

Cheers

I call it "set-it-and-forget-it." But I suppose someone can chime in here regarding your requested way of doing things.
