Edit templates?

Hello,

I need to change a few things in the templates. I edit /template/base/ but they don't seem to affect the main site.

For anyone wondering:its best to turn off all caching in admin > setting > advance > template > untick all the cache

I still cant edit the navigation menu, the html files in template/base/ dont really seem to affect it

yes i have the same problem, can't editing template in dolphin 7.0

what can i do!!!!?

hmmm i have found its the caching. I turned them all to off in my template from the admin. hit refresh and there it is  

The html files are to be edited only to change the structure of the pages.

Most editing for colors and position and such are handled in the CSS files in the CSS folder.

The top menu and all the buttons use images that are in the images directory.


You all need to get a copy of firebug for firefox. The firebug plugin will allow you to see where things are located, what files they are in, you can even make temepory live view css changes to see what the effect will be before you actually change the file. It's a valuable tool for template editing.

You also need to make sure caching is turned off in admin like mentioned in the first post.

i take that back. some items post and some well i just cant see. maybe in do time they will show up. i had issues in 6.1XX doing my own template. I use other scripts mainly joomla and osdate. I enjoy boonex the most but i must say the temple thing is a negative for me. last time i just made a few color changes and gave up. I know it should be simple - just add this and replace that and bam ya get something to play with. May be its just me and user error, so as i go a long and get this thing down I will start a blog giving a step by step on what i did and how i did it as i would hate for anyone to go days on end only to see the background change or the font color change not  at all yo. But hey like i said could just be user error on me -
