Email Send Failed

I just re-installed D7.01 due to the inability of the board to send emails on signups, greetings, etc. on a previous installation.

After re-installing everything worked perfectly. I was amazed how well things were working.

Now I just discovered that it isn't working again. It's broken. New user signup welcome mails aren't going out & I'm getting the "Email Send Failed - Try Again Later" error message on greetings.

I have members who have re-joined after I re-installed everything fresh. I can't ask them to do it again.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It worked just a little while ago so I know it isn't my server settings. I haven't changed anything server side at all.

I really, really need help with this. I have members from my old site joining now & I don't want to lose them.

Please, if you have any idea's here - let me know. I've searched but I don't see anything that helps. Maybe I'm missing the fix for this, I don't know. I just know that I have to get this working again.

I just discovered several mails that show a database error.

Database error in

Query:

SELECT `ID` FROM `sys_localization_languages` WHERE `Name`='en' LIMIT 1

Mysql error: MySQL server has gone away

Found error in the file '/home/mysite/public_html/inc/classes/BxDolEmailTemplates.php' at line 31.
Called 'getOne' function with erroneous argument #0.

Since this happened at around the same time as the emails quit sending, I can only assume that they are connected. I had no previous errors to these.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

That didn't fix it, unfortunately. HostGator was kind enough to help me learn how to do it so at least I learned something from this.

There were actually a few database errors and they all happened about the same time as the one I posted above. I think it was when a video was processing so that may explain the memory being an issue then.

I am not certain that the database error happened at exactly the same time as the email errors so they may not be connected at all.

The mail still won't send and I'm beside myself. I've spent hours trying to clear this up and nothing works.

I don't understand how it works at one point and then just fails.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I just don't understand it.

Sorry for venting, this is just very frustrating.

If anyone else has an idea, I'll give it a try.

This has been resolved

I had placed php.ini files into several directories and that is what broke the mail - believe it or not. More specifically, the php.ini that I put in the site root is what did it. I was still able to put one in the modules folder to allow large uploads.

I was under the mistaken belief that the php.ini also had to go into the root of the site. This is a lesson I won't soon forget. :P

I know this was the problem because I installed a fresh copy again and checked those functions with each change I made.

I would have never guessed that was the issue.
