 In version 7 Does anyone know how to set up a confirm email field on joining like password. I feel you should have to cofirm your email twice like a password to ensure it is correct. I have members typing in their email incorrect and never recieving their confirmation email. Almost every website you sign up to asks you to confirm your email twice in the join page.

I believe this issue will be addressed in 7.0.1. At least there was discussion about making the change, though I have not tested the change to see if they confirm the email. |

wont make any difference until they fix the email confirmation system ayway It will make a difference as I use a page access mod, so any member that joins my site is set to promotion untill see their email is confirmed. With the page access mod they are locked out of all features except their profile and their on pics (when they click on peopele, pics, search etc they rec a message that their email is uncomfimed or profile is pending, pending profiles have limited access). After I see they have confirmed I change their membership to standard with full access enabling them to use the complete site. However if they have typed the email incorrect they would not have recieved the email confimation letter. Or am i missing something are you saying the email confimations are not being sent or working? I only ask as most of my members seem to confirm. |

Yes, you are missing something. If they go back into their profile and change anything after you have confirmed them, it will set them back to unconfirmed. (actually, it sets them back to 'approval' which is essentially the same) The system will not tell you or them it has done this and you will need to manually check each account each day or wait for them to complain they can't access anything. http://towtalk.net ... Thanks but no this is not an issue as I'm not concerned about moderation settings as I have purchased a mod to control access, Im not concerned with moderation settings after updating. I'm only concerned with members entering an email address with out spelling errors etc to ensure they receive their original sign up email confirmation. Thats why I want a confirm email field on sign up page just like the password field. |
