Email notification of forums posts

Is there a way my members can get an email notification when topics they have posted to are replied to by other members. They are asking for it.

I'd like that too.  Except, I would much rather prefer that it be an opt-in/opt-out so people can choose to follow or unfollow threads.  Actually, I'd like that here at Unity too. :-)

I need this really badly as well happy to pay for a mod if anyone knows where to find one. It's such an important feature and I can't find anyone offering a solution!

Yes even i am thinking the same. But what actually i am looking for is some setting in the forum from admin panel as well as from user end to send and receive email notification for every post made in the forum. This can however be made thread wise.

I am using dolphin 7.  And i could not find any solution to this so far.

Please let me know if this is already an inbuilt feature or do i need to customize the code...

This feature would work the same way as this forum works with a Subscribe/Unsubscribe link at the top....

I can see why you guys would like this but have you thought about what it would be like to get a busy thread and each member  that has contributed to that thread would have an inbox full of messagged telling them that someone has replied to their post?

If you were to nable such a feature then you should also make it an option that can be switched on or off by each individual member and have this option avaible per thread and not per forum.

I think you're looking for the DolphinMods Advanced Notifier v2.

I just checked dolphinmods.com, and regarding another thread, it appears he doesn't sell the verion 6 stuff anymore, but that's what I have.  He's in the process of upgrading stuff to version 7.

It works great though, and as you say, it is essential.  It sends notifications for forums and groups forums smartly, as well as notices if you have a blog, guestbook, photo comment, etc.  There's a little panel on your My Account page that shows you the new notices too.

As for forums, it will notify you if someone replies to a topic you started or participated in, or one you flagged.  For group forums, it will also let you know if there's a new group topic.

Regarding spammy notices, well, for groups - maybe you shouldn't belong to it if you don't want to be active in it?  But, the users can switch in the settings whether to be e-mail notified for any of the categories either for all members or just friends.  I've been planning on adding in my own option for "none" too for certain categories.  I figure if somone doesn't want notices for guestbooks, photos, blogs, and things then, maybe they should just not belong to the site (I know forums are a little different).  But our recently started site has over 200 members and no complaints.

So, I know you can't buy it now, but it was the first mod we paid for and was the best money spent.
