Email notification with Orca Forum

Hello Team,

I need your help for 2 things...

I am a little bit disappointed about the participation on my forum - I used in the past other solutions and have had tons of participation.

I have noticed 2 things that might play a role...

1- There's no email notification unless someone subscribe to the topic (never people do that unless they are a geek)

2- The way it's indexed on Google you see the name of my site :: Orca Forum  can you please tell me how to change the title so Google will re-index with what I provide.

Thank you for your support...

I've been begging for this forever, and in fact, just recently:

http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Forum-posts-default-set-to-subscribe-.htm

I also lobbied forever to just get the subscribe function in there at all during the development of D7, but Boonex did it wrong - the default absolutely should be to subscribe to every post where you have responded - no one ever goes back to look.

The problem is that for every basic issue here now, their is a mod that fixes it for $100 or so, and buying it is supposed to be the solution.

That's a very bad news :( I really didn't know that before buying a license and spend close to $1000 in add-ons...

Another very annoying thing.... There's no support from Boonex.... Why no one is answering other than Caltrade??

Is it possible for someone from Boonex to answer that question? It's just important for me to know....

They will never answer johnl.   Here is the deal, and it took me a while to figure out.   Boonex has been designed with an number of critical features not working.   This one, in my opinion, is glaring.  As you have correctly surmised, the way alerts are set up is absolutely critical to making a community work - but Boonex left out this absolutely critical function, along with a number of other.   For each of these, you will have to buy a mod.  I don't think this is fair - I think the base functionality of the software should work and it is almost a kind of bait and switch when you find that to make this software work properly, there are a bunch of mods you will have to buy.

I have looked at it, and I think to make D7 even have a prayer of working in the real world, you will have to buy about $500 worth of mods.   No problem for some people, but funds are extremely tight for me - plus I have five sites, so I would have to spend at least $2,500 to make the software work properly.  That is in addition to about 20 or so bugs and things that are incorrectly set up that Boonex never fixed, and you will find that far from being free, this software is actually quite expensive.

Johnl - There is a module that sends notifications out, for you it would be $40 but if you changed from advanced to premium, it would be $36. This has a huge list of why/how email notifications are sent. Just a suggestion.

You can change that :: Orca Forum, but it will require some code edit if I am not mistaken. I will look into this.

Nothing to see here

Zarcon, if you could track down that code change it would be really helpful.  I purposely didn't mention the Ultimate Notifier module, because that is one of several here that take over basic functionality that should have been in the program, and I don't think we should be forced to buy it.
