I have installed Dolphin on my personal server as I want to use the software. After having setup most settings, I tried to send an invite and got "Email Send Failed" message. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
The email address is properly setup in the software. I will need to check the logs once more but have not seen any problems in the logs.
The website is www.faithisbelieving.org (only one user at present as emails do not work.

Do you have a mail server running on your personal server; what do you mean by personal server? If you don't have a mail server installed and running, then you can install the SMTP module that will allow you to use a third party mail server such as gmail or yahoo. I have my own server dedicated server at home that I created using Centos 6.6 with Plesk 11.5. I have all of the components (mail, web, mysql, etc... including ffmpeg) installed and running. Only the faith domain is not sending out emails. |
I have just install the smtp mailer module and it also has the same problems... Very strange. |
I have just found out the problem is that if I use SSL/TLS, it will not authenticate properly but if I place it as not secure, with port 25, it will work. It would be nice to use TLS a it is more secure...
Thank you for providing me with the idea of using the SMTP Mailer module as I thought the PHP mail version would be better but it isn't.

Did you create email ids no-reply@yoursite.com or admin@yoursite.com on your dedicated server? Umar Haroon |
What server are you using? I set up a new server for Dolphin using Postfix/Dovecot and forgot to add the user to the server; I set up Dolphin to send emails from no-reply@my-site.com and was getting an error message that the mail server could not resolve the address the email was to be sent to; almost as if I had a DNS error. I added the no-reply user to the system and set up the virtual address for Postfix and all the mails piling up in the queue went out. Sometimes it is something simple that we overlook.
As for SSL/TLS, that is used for authentication to your mail server; should not be an issue to send out mail from Dolphin.
