Embeding video into blogs.

How does one embed video they have uploaded to their profile into their blogs?  I've searched but cannot seem to find an answer.  the embed code does nothing.

Thank

Anybody?

As long as it's a blog post and not comment, I believe you can click that magical button labeled "HTML" and enter the embed code from the pop-up window. This new window provides you with an output of everything in HTML, which comes in handy for extra formatting.

Right now, you don't.  Embed code for any site besides YouTube is stripped when you save the post, and that includes your own domain.  Very clever... isn't it?

Even my boonex site?  Kinda rough to have a "tutorial" blog then.  I have a bunch of screencasts I want to use as tutorials, but if I cannot embed them into the post, I'm at a loss.

It seems as though you can embed videos from just about anywhere, in D7 forums.  It appears as though forum posts are not filtered through HTMLpurifier.  I haven't decided if I like this 'feature' though.

On second thought, I know I don't like this feature.  It means site admins have verry little control over what video content is posted in the forums.

Here is exactly what I'm trying to do, I think were on different pages.  I've uploaded to my boonex site and want to embed that video into my blog on my boonex site.  I do not want to link to it, but rather have it embedded.  After I add the code to the HTML and post its as if nothing was placed.

Houston...I don't follow, I have a D7 install I have just started as you know...

following  the emded code from your other posting about this; I cannot get them to embed in the forums. I'm glad I can't...you guys mentioned something about phpids...is that a default feature in D7, is that something handled on my host side? I hate to ask so many at once..

could you try to post that video to my forums? www.duvallocals.com

Yes. PHPIDS is a filter included in D7 which houston and myself have disabled because it is the cause of all the security attack messages that occur so often in D7.

Where does one disable phpids?

Set the values for.

Set them both to -1

It's best to do what Deano said and set both thresholds to -1.  PHPIDS is a good idea, but it has major issues that need to be resolved before it is usable.  Right now, it cannot tell the diference between a real attack, and a lot of harmless posts.

I set the fields to -1 as recommended, but I still cannot add video from my dolphin site to my dolphin blog.  Both are in the same site network,  is there a way to add a feature like the groups and events where you just catagorize the video as "blog" and it is available to add to a blog?

Christraeger, did you clear your /cache directory after you made those changes? (clear all except the .htaccess file)

By setting the total security impact thresholds to -1, does that leave the site more vulnerable to attacks? My site isn't even up and running yet (it's still under construction) and I am getting those security attack emails. So I'm looking to stop the emails but not leave the site vulnerable to attack.

As I have said in this very thread, you can NOT embed video from any site except youtube, and that include your own site.  The disabling of PHPIDS was in reference to posting of video in forums.  Blog posts are filtered by HTMLpurifier.... forum posts are not.   To be able to post videos from your own site into a blog, requires a whitelist filter similar to the one HTMLpurifier uses for YouTube videos.

The YouTube filter is part of the HTMLpurifier distribution.  No other filters are included.
