Error when clicking signup confirmation email link

Does anyone know how to resolve this error?

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '!' in /home/acn/public_html/plugins/htmlpurifier/HTMLPurifier.standalone.php on line 7205

It occurs when clicking on the signup confirmation email link.

Try to reupload this file (plugins/htmlpurifier/HTMLPurifier.standalone.php) from the original package.

I'm surprised though because the file size was exact down the bytes and the file contents and length also appeared identical.  But it worked, so who cares! lol
