Hi BoonExer,
I was chatting with my friend through my dolphin7 script, before we start to chat he sent me too many msgs, in the bottom bar chat, but when a msg is received there is no sound so I wasn't able to know that he is sending me messages.
What I think is that when a msg is received then the title bar shud do something like of "omegle.com" and it shud make a sound like facebook's chat.
Please pay attention to this problem.
BoonEx Rocks!

Well I know that both the chat rooms and the video chat make a sounds whenever a new message comes through. |
I am not talking about the chat room and video chat instead am talking about that bottom chat... |
I am serious the bottom bar chat does not make sound when we receive message and it shud. One more thing is that when we received any message the title bar shud change just like "omegle.com". |
Anybody Please pay attention!!! |
mine flashes red when i get a message in there, but it does come late sometimes. and i dont get a sound but i didnt think much of it |

Yeah I know it flashes red but what if someone is browsing other website in other tabs? how the user comes to know that he has received a new message? so thats why I suggested that it shud make sound and the title bar should change whenever a new message is received just like "omegle.com"
|
Is there anyone who will support my idea? |
It is not really an important feature for me but I suppose it should make a sound for each message sent. I know that the same mechanism is on Facebook. But only after you have initiated chat. Having said all of this, I seem to remember FB only makes a sound if you have focus on the chat, other wise no sound is made. Just a flashing browser tab. Hmmm not sure of the situation now. Sorry. |
Anybody Please pay attention!!!
If you want a developer to "Pay attention" you are better off contacting members with high member points like AntonLV or all the regulars who make mods. It isn't a common feature for the bottom chat but if you contact a developer they could maybe make a mod for you.
I wouldn't think it would cost that much either, it's probably a small job
Regards,
Peter

Will somebody please tell me what in hell "bottom chat" is? .... since it's extremely important... My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
It is the simple messenger module. I have never enabled it myself. But as far as I can gather it is the same as the facebook chat which is situated at the bottom right hand corner of the site window. Dunno where the boonex on is situated.

Another thing that's really annoying is the way to initiate simple messenger chat! If you click on friends appearing online at the bottom bar, you'll get redirected to their profiles instead of initiating chat window like in facebook. Users are really confused about it! They even don't know how to do it; they will have to find out on their own that they have to point the cursor on their friend's thumbnail and wait for 3-5 secs until action block appears and then write something in the chat field. Stupid thing to do it, really!
In facebook, the chat option is really simple. Facebook has friendly interface unlike Dolphin, must admit that. That's why it's very hard to convince people to join your community because they are used to facebook. I'm fighting over this problem and Dolphin needs so much optimizations in order to attract people to start using it. So many questions asked by users, they hardly get to navigate through the website.

petar,
i think this is where a good site admin would come into play. if you know this situation exists, then writing about it in the FAQ, or even sending out a notification email would be prudent to helping control the issue.
you guys keep bring up facebook, do you understand it costs $30 million dollars to develop facebook, your site will never match facebook, so quit comparing your site to facebook.

When a GIG is not enough --> Terabyte Dolphin Technical Support - Server Management and Support |
We are not challenging facebook but our users shud get reliability and flexibility. Well, now it is not a matter for me cuz last night I changed my mind to use phpfox instead of dolphin because dolphin is very big system which is not easy to control and it has numbers of bugs and it needs more fixes.
I will use the version 7.1 of boonex as it will have toooo many good enhancements.

Petar is right. So the simple solution is that when the user will click on the profile pic or profile then that ajax box shud pop out and shud not be redirected to the profile instead that box shud contain a link to profile.
This is the best solution as far as I think.
