FTP access to upload modules??/

This is a security violation. Who put that garbage in there?

Surely there is another means than a totally insecure method to upload/install modules?

Your post is a little confusing, but if you don't want to upload to your server via FTP you could always use SFTP.

I think he  might mean from the admin section where it is asking for ftp details.

Yes,that is exactly what I am talking about. Does it have SFTP? I see no means to direct to port 22 .

No, this would have to be changed within the code.  but why not just upload the module to the modules folder via your sftp app ?

Does not matter. As far as i can tell the internal FTP system does not work anyway. So you need to use a FTP/SFTP client anyway.

I attemped the SFTP transer to the modules folder,  but it seems to not have taken.  In fact it is Deano Tools I am trying to install. In addition, I also did the other method what I had read about, "Clear Cache after making changes"

Here is a video tutorial on how to install my tools created by DosDawg of terabyte-hosting.com

That was a horrible video. He more like babbling, and too much noise with all those fans from the servers. Anyway I managed to see what I was doing wrong. I  put Deano into the /modules/boonex folder instead of the modules directory.

Howeve,r Deano Tools does not seem to have installed correctly though it appears in the list of installed tools.

Actually that wording is incorrect.  Once I processed for istallation, all the modules appear in the "Not Installed Modules" list, but the "Installed Modules" list is emtpy.  There is an option to  "Uninstall" in that Not Installed Modules list. Are these typos?

Deano Tools appear nowhere on the site.

If my module is not appearing then it is still not in the proper location.

If uploaded properly then the modules folder will contain a folder named deano.

However i am not getting what you're saying about the lists. There no known typos that i am aware of. And what ever you see there is not related to the tools anyway.

Provide screenshots of what you're seeing.

Perhaps the text tutorial would be better for you. http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/TutorialHowToInstallThirdPartyDolphinModules
