My suggestion is don't bother with the Facebook connect app, at least until it works correctly (well, when it does work...).

It's been nothing but problems for anyone trying to use it.  I don't have time to list out all the things wrong with it, but you can do a search here and find the numerous issues it'll cause you and your members.

Good luck...

Thanks i think i will remove it for now..... it may be whats causing some of my other problems as well..... maybe

If anyone used it to join your site, they may no longer be able to log in, so heads up on that.  Dolphin messes up the password and e-mail address on import, so you may have to ask some people to re-register using a whole new account.  You'll know by looking at your member list in Admin who used the FB connect to join, but be aware that the email address will be all wrong...

I have integrated a smooth working FB/Twitter/Myspace/Google and a bunch of other accounts component for D6 and D7.  Runs from a single file and doesn't interfere with the core dolphin code.

Here's a demo

LOL, yeah i kinda figured i would get that response but can you tell me how to fix the fb connect??

Has anyone tested this fix yet? Meaning, can users now sign up with FB Connect, edit their profile information (such as your name or email), then try to login again and see if it creates another account?

unfortunately that didnt work

not sure what to do now except leave the connect alone

I will have my version released as soon as i can. I am still working on a way to force new members to have to enter a valid email address after connect from FB completes.

Anyhow. Most of the bugs with FB Connect boonex has fixed, but there is still one remaining i believe they must be unaware of. The boonex version does not correctly handle faceboon id's longer then 10 digits. As long at the ID is below 10 digits, the current fixes in trac work fine.

Dean,

If you are doing that, then it seems to me that the Facebook connect should take them to their profile after the first login, and force them to enter all the "required" profile fields - not just email.  The information from from Facebook - DescriptionMe, etc, could already be filled in, but maybe not "writable" since that would be updated in Facebook.   I'm not sure if this is where you should put your energy though - there are already a few Facebook mods, and Boonex might fix theirs eventually.

By the way, does anyone know whatever happened to "Open ID" - is that still in the works?

Exactly. Because of the number of mods currently available i am doing this for 2 reasons. One, is to provide a update to the one i already released on expertzzz way back when 7.0 was first released, and to cover my needs. Other than that, i will not waste any more energy.
