Facebook connect

I just installed the facebook connect, I have close to 1000 members, I added the API and secret key.....now when I log on using facebook connect I get a this...Sorry but a profile with this email address already exists..

What did I do wrong ?

 
You did nothing wrong.

The message your getting is this. "Sorry but a profile with this email address already exists." which means exactly what is says. Simply put, the email address used for the facebook account your connecting to your dolphin site with matches a email address that already exists on your dolphin site. Thus, it cannot create a new account.

Thats how the boonex version of facebook connect works. It creates new accounts, it will not link up to an existing account with a matching email address like my version can.

So what you are telling me, my existing members cant link up like I am trying to do...since my both emails a the same... any solutions ?

 Hello, I bought and installed your module and it works great, my only problem is the optional button...the line 477 does not existe I attached my file

Just search for the code referenced and make sure it's around the same line, then make the changes.

In your file its in line 313 See the image :

Hope that's sorts your issues on optional button :).  You may download notepad++ it will help you to locate easily the code or function your looking for just press ctrl+f.

I see a couple of other people have helped you out on this one.

A lot of times a search for code needs to be done. Line numbers change in practically every version of dolphin.

is it possible in the drop down to have Facebook Connect instead of Deanos FBC it would be more understanding for simple mind users....what file do I need to modify ?

Just edit the language key _dbcs_facebook

It is named differently so it does not match the boonex version so you can tell the difference when both are installed.

 
You will need to describe "Strange"

There will be one difference. Selecting "Deanos FBC" from the drop down is not compatible with the popup logon option, so if your going to use that instead of the button, then that option must be off. If you hide the dowpdown, then there is no need to edit the language key for "Deanos FBC" because your members will not see it. With the button, the popup option can be used which does the log in to facebook via a popup instead.

Oh, one other thing. If you did those edits per the instructions then you should not even be seeing that drop down. Should have dawned on me when you asked to change "Deanos FBC" because if you did the edits, then you should not be seeing it.

So, clear the dolphin cache.

I must be blind I  cant find this file on your module folder grrrr so sorry to bother you

What file are you looking for? I don't remember giving you a file name to look for.

I did give you a language key to edit. Thats a language key. Edited in dolphins language section in admin just like all other dolphin language keys.

 For the moment now, I only installed your module, and filled the fields for the API ect...alll is working perfect with the dropdown. I would like this dropdown to sya Facebook Connect instead of Deanos FBC also I tried to edit that inc\design.inc.php like you mentioned, saved, clerared the boonex cache and refres my browser, but the login page doest to work..... so I removed the code, cleared the cache and it work without the facebook button...it would be fun to have...

Ok for this one, it's a language key you edit, not a file to edit. Just go into the languages section in dolphin admin and search for this language key. _dbcs_facebook and edit the text.



If you wish to use the button instead, then i attached a modified version of your inc/design.inc.php

NOTE: If you choose to use the attached version of design.inc.php to use a button instead, then clear your dolphin cache after you replace the file.
