Failed Uninstall of a MOD now what?

If you try to uninstall a mod and it fails to uninstall what are the options to remove the mod completely?  I wanted to uninstall a version of the MOD and just reinstall the latest version!  When I tried to uninstall it, it failed!  How does one do house cleaning to make sure all is gone so a newer version can be uploaded?

I know the first choice is to contact the MOD developer.  I am looking for the best way to do this if the developer is unreachable?   

You will need to do the following to uninstall the mod manually:

Run the uninstall.sql file manually that resides under module/<mod_developer>/mod/install/sql...

Delete the module folder from modules/<mod_developer> location..

Remove any customizations to files if any..you will have to check the install instructions in the mod to know if any core files were modified or not...

As always, backup the site and database before any modifications :)
