yes, i would look at the server logs, however, you know that on a shared host, you are not allowed to look at server logs.
if your host said to look at the developer, what information was provided to indicate it was the developer?
possible database connection error. have you looked in the server logs for errors ?
i have seen this many times, on a database timeout where the database is overloaded. typical on shared hosting where there are literally hundreds of accounts set on one server.
if your hosting service is one which is promoted by boonex, then they are supposed to provide you a bit more information than to look at the developer.
