Featured Blogs and Featured Events

My D7 site is running smoothly thanks to ALOT of help from people in this community but .. Time again for some help if you are up for it.

I`m trying to put two features on my main website page, two features found in a D7 site but not anywhere to be added directly to the Homepage using the Page Builder.

I want to post the FEATURED BLOGS and FEATURED EVENTS in the main navigation page but so far i`ve been only able to put the BLOGS and PUBLIC EVENTS ... Do i have to create those modules from scratch even though they are functions in D7 ?

Worse thing is .. i`m pretty sure I saw this posted a few weeks back .. but for some reason i can`t find it anymore.. :/

Anyone got some info on this ?

I've already found that I can select the "Default block tab on homepage:" .. but this feature although very handy, still shows the other options(features,past,upcoming etc..etc..) on top of the module .. I would like to deactivate the other functions.
