File in dolroot/tmp has a future mod date

How is it possible for my time zone difference be only a few hours different from my server, yet a file in the dolphin root/tmp directory have a modification date for that is 8 hours into the future?

The file is named pphottgor5D and last modified 9/29/2011 at 5:40 AM and it is now 9/28/2011 9:40 PM

I understand that a few hours difference could be easily explained by the time zone difference between me and my server, but 8 HOURs? To be honest, my servers are actually supposed to be in the same time zone as me just a few hundred mile south of my home.

I noticed this around 9:35 this evening (about 10-15 minutes ago) and decided to post....

This baffles me.

I'm trying to troubleshoot another issue right now and started checking modified files and discovered this.

Anyone have an explanation for this?

is this a VPS?

if so the timestamp on default on openvz is moskow, and if you have not had the vz file edited, to set the timezone correctly then set the time to your local time, that could be the reason.

if you are not on a VPS, then write your hosting company and ask them what timezone your server is on.

if you can get in SSH you can type:

date

at command prompt and it will tell you the current time on the machine

My server currently shows 9:04 AM and It is 2:06 AM where I am right now.

That's a 5 hour span....

Maybe it's not a big deal I guess.

Dammit~ I got to fix this other issue.....I'm screwed here.

Dos- Can you peek at my other forum question and take a shot at it?

I need something to try to fix it....I'm going to go over and add some more info I collected

dude, i just figured something out. part of your problems are mathematical.

9:04 - 2:06 = ~ 7 hours, not 5 (had to dig at you on this one) guess you could use the "its late, and i am tired"

LOL
