Files to edit for template

If i want to make my own template from the files that come for the default template, which should i edit for the following?

Header-
Footer-
Background-
Main body container-
Sidebar container-
and then for each individual box in the body continer-

What i am basically trying to do is use dolphin for my website outlined here http://204.12.217.114/~myaccess/reference/

sup dude i was suggested firebug from someone on here. i got it and its great! its an add on for firefox and if your gonna be editing or creating templates its a must have and it will show u exactly where everything is but make sure u dont edit the base css files copy the uni folder and put what code on them files that u wanna change... only look at the other css files to know where what goes or u can mess up some major stuff >.< hope this helps :)
