Forum Problem

Just Brought the phpbb3 mod  it works great i got tiny problem with it thow all new members it works fine but how to i get all my old user names to work just cannot login with any of my old account and have over 400 members  i know there away to do this so that when users changes the password it will add it to  both

we had an old site were a php programmer did this for us and all old member just logged in change there passwords and it would add them to the correct parts of the database  so that they could then login without any problems

is there a simple way to fix this

I am in the same boat.  I haven't found any solutions.  I was thinking that it would be cool if they could "login" to the forum then get redirected to the Dolphin join form with their data populated.  But so far no programmer wants to help out.  I have 1700 members in my old form...

1 Step:

uninstall the app from the admin panel in you boonex site can leave files on the sever just uninstall it.

(You must do this other wise your make your self bigger problems.)

2 Step:

Once that's done remove all trace of the forum from the phpmyadmin should be all the phpbb_ files.

(Be Careful if you don't know MySQL then you can lose you whole site with one click)

3 Step:

Then remove  the phpbb3 folder from your server

4 Step:

Run Fresh Install of phpbb3 build forum using the same database that your boonex site is installed into don't change any setting you must use the tag phpbb_ just use a  different admin user name and password to your boonex site you can set permission to admin account later write this user name and password down this is the overall admin for the forum

5 Step: once fresh install is done return to boonex site admin panel install the mod from the modules panel

6 Step: copy all the code from the read me file to the phpbb directory of you sever

if you have already done an install to a database using the phpbb_ as database tag then you cannot run fresh install as database tag have already been used so to do a fresh install you will need to clean database of all phpbb_ files other wise new phpbb install will not work with the phpbb_ database tag you have got to follow my steps above to correct

This is the only way if you have gone wrong with your install forgot password change the phpbb_ tag you will need to run fresh install for your forum to work with the module correctly it needs to use the phpbb_ tag

you will need to remove everything and start again

Didn't you follow the instructions when you were installing this mod? It seems like you are repeating exactly what the instructions are stating. It's not necessary to use different admin user name, I used the same name, works just fine. But I am happy you fixed it :)

I'm helping those who have messed the install up if you install phpbb using the phpbb_ database tag and dose not work you will need to run a fresh install using the phpbb_ database tag your need to clean the phpmyadmin of all phpbb_ file other wise those trying to install phpbb again will find install will not install using phpbb_ database tag as it has already been used those of you that have tried will know what i mean

and for the mod to work it needs the database to be phpbb_ as it database tag other wise it wont work simple  my guide above is to help people remove the old php database  so they can run fresh install using the phpbb_ database tag which is need for the mod to work

yes few step are taken from the readme that because they are need to get it to work but it dose not tell you how to clean you php database so fresh install can be done
