Google Analytics

Can I insert GA Website Optimizer code into my join page?

I have tracking code in my header. Will this matter?  This would affect the initial results correct.

I take if you're trying to determine how many people load just the join page?  I think you could just look in the Content tab of Analytics and it will tell you how many times a particular page is loaded, while still getting stats on the whole site.

Since Google recommends putting the tracking code last thing, just before "</body></html>" on a page, it's recommended to put it into the

templates/base/_footer.html.

got that, guess I'm looking for more. I see that only 4% migrate there.

I have done research and found that the join page was just too long, so it is very short now and pre filled most fields; still hard to get members to join, look how short I made it.. http://www.duvallocals.com/join.php

then most don't follow the email confirmation link as well. I need to do more work on informing new site visitors on exactly what to do.. the dolphin script is great, I guess it is just too much for most...

we need the activity wall down the center like facebook! this is what I hear most from feedback and  current members.

You should go into Google Analytics and look at "Goals".  If you set a goal for your site, such as % of people who click the Join page and then another for people who click the "Join" button you will get accurate statistics on your site as far as your conversion goals go.

Your Join Page has been view 37 times, by 21 individuals.  16 of the 21 returned for a 2nd time to the join page.  Now, what you don't know is if someone joined and then their spouse joined for example.  Keep in mind, this does NOT show you how many people actually joined your site.  You need to look at your sites statistics to see how many have actually joined the site out of the 37 views by 21 unique IP's.

Thanks MyDatery, I understand now.

Of course it is obvious how many "I" see sign up, and the days tally...from my homepage stats and my admin section.

To show other business interest site stats, I guess this is my best bet. Now it is all about how to actually "draw" people to the site...

on another note-

Since you have so much knowledge on the systems, what is the best way to "load" test an RMS server other than have members using it, as I have one setup and need to run the paces on it?

I guess that might be in another post, I will search and maybe post that question somewhere else.
