They are private, so only those who are members of them should see them. For this reason, it's displaying only the public Groups Forum. Kind of kills the idea of a Private Group Forum if the whole world can see it doesn't it?

Okay, thanks for clarifying that question. It makes it a lot easier to help you out here if we know exactly what your trying to do so that we can give you good advice the first time around and not waste your time with a fix that does something you don't want to happen.
So, if I understand you correctly, you would like the forums rrs feed to have an if command that deals specifically with if a member is a member of a private group and if so, then it shows the posts in the private group they belong to, if not then it doesn't show them.
Is this correct?
If so, it sounds like a pretty good item and a great idea for helping to keep your members hooked up to each other. Potentially, this could work great on their account page where they can see if there are new posts from their private groups. |
Mydatery, oddly enough, I thought it was perfectly clear in my first post. There is really no need to thank me for spelling it out in simple to read terms so that it is easier for someone like you to understand.
DM. Okay, asking for clarification on your post and ensuring I have it right is not a reason to jump in and start insulting people. Now, since you think I don't have an answer, I'll help you out part way on this. After that, it's up to you finish it since you feel that I suffer from cerebral incompetency.
Open up the correct file and find the function that deals with the groups rss on the home page. Let me help you out a little further, you can find it by going into your Admin => Builders => Page builders and bringing up the home page and the corresponding RSS Block on the page.
Next, you need to go into that function and add an if $Groups private command to it and finish it with an else. Now, your php function will need to include an if logged command with an elseif command that verifies if logged, and inside of that you will need to to do a check to see if member of private group.
I could site here and do the whole thing for you, but unfortunately you will need to read my blog to get the reason why I don't do that anymore.

I deleted my posts here as this thread had been hijacked by mydatery and I was being drawn into a useless argument with him. This served no purpose and was of no information or benefit to anyone. I am a little dissapointed that actions like his persist here at Boonex - especially after past events and complaints.
