Help Needed with Music Networking Site!

Can anyone help us fix a few problems with our Dolphin 7.0 site? -

This is a music networking site & we're having a problem when trying to create a new "Band" or  "Venue" it keeps returning to "create band" page asking to select from "Categories" though we have done (as per screenshot below) - if anyone can help or at least point me in the direction of a developer who can help us solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated - there are a couple of other similar bugs also.

Site is: http://bolinger.co/briefcase/quickerwhiskey/

I think categories is set to be mandatory and its not selected that is why it keeps asking.

so much to do....

No sorry - this occurs after selecting a Category - it keeps giving this response as if not having selected one??

What version of dolphin are you using?

Categories section code on   Band mod  is faulty...needs to be re-written or updated  to match your dolphin version.

pm me for more details.

Thanks for the reply Smile4Sammy will send you a PM when my boonex account upgrades to Advanced - what you suggest sounds like the problem - we're using Dolphin 7.0

You should contact the developer of the module.  I'm not aware of problems with the module itself, but the developer of the module should be able to help.

did you purchase the bands module here on boonex market? because the only one that i know who has a bands module is modzzz and he supports his works. so if you are having problems, please contact the author, and they should support the product.

Please state what is faulty about the Category functionality of the mod and do not provide any support to this person who has sent you a PM as I have no record that they have purchased a legal copy of the mod.

I am the mod author and I do not have any record of purchase by jsunami which is probably why I have not been contacted regarding this issue. I have a support forum for each of my mods and I do provide support and fixes for issues reported. I am imploring smile4sammy to redirect this issue to me (the mod author) instead of providing him/her with support via PM.

 modzzz and smiles4sammy

though i had suspicion, there was no answer on who the author was on this module. though i have experience with most all of modzzz's modules, and the screen shot here looked familiar.

then after the post to contact the author, and there was no response, i went to look at the site:

<img class="img_submenu" src="http://bolinger.co/briefcase/quickerwhiskey/modules/modzzz/bands/templates/base/images/icons/modzzz_bands.png" alt="">

it is modzzz's module, and the other telltale sign on this account, is that the post for help here shows a starter account, and i believe, but could be wrong, but if you purchase a dolphin license, you are no longer on starter status. again, could be wrong, i have had licenses back from years ago, so im not real familiar with how it works on creating new accounts. but when i visited the site, the boonex ads were also missing. though none of this is solid that the module was not purchased, just not purchased by this user who is asking for help, or this username.

who knows~

i know modzzz supports his work, and most times goes beyond supporting his work. he is a good developer and honest unity member.

at any rate, thought i would revisit this one, since there was some question as to why the member was not asking the mod author for support on the issue.

I have not received any mail from this 'Starter' member to  verify who the Module Author is.

if you take a look at the  "View Page Source" you'll see the license section is there only the footer is manually removed. If a valid license is entered this code bellow doesn't show up.

<div class="main_footer_block">

 @prolaznik,

yeah i noticed that as well, though i was not going to post it, since this would only peak the interest of others looking to illegally remove the footer ads, and not pay for the application.

you notice ol'boy has not come back in here since it was determined that he needs to request support from the module author.

i must say, the boy is ballsy, strolling in here, with a pirated module, and nulled Dolphin, and asking for help.

if you take a look at the  "View Page Source" you'll see the license section is there only the footer is manually removed. If a valid license is entered this code bellow doesn't show up.

<div class="main_footer_block">

sheesh - after a previous request for help & no response & nothing much on this after a couple of days & I'm expected to be sitting online waiting for you guys to come up with all this?? I have been waiting for my paid membership to resolve via paypal so I can PM - SMILE4SAMMY - thanks very much! And was just about to purchase the latest version of the module which after further study found via google.

----

I'm not the owner of the site - nor was I the one who installed this mod.. I'm completely new to Dolphin platform & only trying to HELP sort out the problems for the owner - not steal anything!

---

If you want to help - then point us to a decent developer who isn't going to waste our time.

And thanks for the rather rude PM also DOSDAWG - you appear to be a great spokesman for making customers pissed off................................

Quote · 8 Jan 2012

 well first things first, if you are not the owner of the site, you should have made that clear, but i will contest that statement, because the footer ads that are removed by license only, are showing your site information, which is not inserted by default, was put there manually.

then secondly on this specific instance, there is no customer here, the module is stolen, the boonex ads are removed illegally. whether you knew that or not.

 thirdly, these answers were all provided within a matter of hours from your request for assistance. so yes, you should evaluate who is it you are helping, though kudos to you for trying to help and getting caught up in this mess. if you are not the guilty one, then there is somebody who is, that is factual.

and Josh, my message was not rude, it was a statement:

well the module belongs to modzzz, he says he has no record of a purchase from your current username, or domain name. the dolphin script has been attempted to be nulled, so  you are batting @ around 120 right now, not very good, and will not get you into the major leagues.

let me give you a bit of history on this community, the members here are very tight, developers of 3rd party modules are held in high regard, because that is how we get our sites customized. hacking the boonex ads does not really bother me, because there are enough branding on the dolphin suite to find it at any given time using a google query and looking up relative keywords to your site.

so whereever it is that you got the instruction on how to remove the footer ads, and whereever it is that you got jeromes modules, you may need to stay in that part of the galatical internet. stealing is not tolerated within this community, its pretty well determined that what you posses is an illegal copy of not only the module, but the entire script. not a good start.

you have a good idea, but you should not start your ideas off on the wrong foot.

it's not Josh here - DosDawg - he's the one I'm trying to help & he got stiffed by an asshole who's caused this argument - so if we can all chill - I wasn't impressed with the wording of your PM & still not really  - but I hadn't seen all this before reading it either & understand you guys would be pissed off if I was trying to break copywrite - but really would I be so dumb to come to this site & not expect you all to be able to investigate the code for license etc??

---

Anyways I can deal with it all - Just wish you had a manual for Dolphin but all the links go to a deadend??

----

Josh is getting me all the details of his license etc & I will report back - if you guys can help then big YAY!

Until then I'm goin for a beer!

My records does show that a 'josh' with a username very similar to the site name purchased a copy of this mod so your clarification is accepted. Now PM me some details for the site so I can investigate and resolve the issue.

 you got it, and sorry to hear that he got stiffed, it always makes the entire community saddened to hear when one gets ripped. that person who ripped him off, is the one who should be exposed. to avoid others getting ripped.

 and truce to you jsunami, and would have helped if this was explained initially that way the peering eye would not have been at you, and you would have received assistance quicker.

modzzz has answered on this and i can assure you he can fix his module. the other issues, if you could, create another thread and we will address each issue as it is presented.

apologies if you were offended, but, i am on the side of the developers who are continuously getting ripped, though this was the exact reverse, and where it was not evident, you are correct, the other party previously involved was the root element of the current situation, both on the site you are working on, and here on the forum.
