Dear lior s,

We have been monitoring your account's resource usage on the server for the past several days and would like to notify you of the following metrics. Your site is currently placed on a . With this in mind, your site is using the following percentage of resources:
CPU % (all processors combined):
6.55
Memory %:
54.61
MySQL Usage (0.0-0.5 is Moderate, 1.0 is High, >1.0 is Unacceptable):
2.1 extreme

Unfortunately, we believe that this type of usage is against our Acceptable Use Policy. Therefore, we need your cooperation in finding a remedy. Depending on your specific case, we generally recommend one or more of the following solutions:
  • If you have many sites hosted on one account: Split the sites throughout more accounts
  • Upgrade your account to our BusinessClass
  • Upgrade your account to our DedicatedClass
  • Turn off extra plugins/modules/additions to your sites that may be out-dated or are being used excessively by your visitors

Do note that we employ some of the best servers in the shared web hosting industry and we have identified your site(s) as using too many resources to reside on a regular shared web hosting server. For your convenience, we strongly suggest that when looking away from Arvixe for web hosting that you look for solutions that are a clear upgrade to a regular shared web hosting environment.

Important: Please respond to this email with a course of action or a remedy within the next 24 hours or we may be forced to suspend your account.

Thank you for your attention and understanding,

Let's look at this.  Now, we've found Arvixe servers have as many as 593 sites on one server.  With that in mind, your fair share of the CPU, Member & MySQL is as folows:

CPU Usage:  0.16863406408094435075885328836425%  Please note the decimal point.

Memory Usage:  0.16863406408094435075885328836425% Please note the decimal point.

MySQL Usage:  0.16863406408094435075885328836425% Please note the decimal point.

Now, if that is a 1.8 GHZ processor then you get:  0.0030354131534569983136593591905565 GHZ of processor usage before you violate the TOS based upon the idea of everyone getting an equal amount.

Let's say the server has 8GB of memory, this will get you:  0.01349072512647554806070826306914 GB of memory for your site.  Nice amount of memory there.

And we won't even get into the SQL Usage.  Note how they are using vague numbers (percentages) to determine what is fair and unfair?  This way they don't have to actually clarify what your fair share of the servers resources are as you have no real clue.  Seriously, what is the processor size?  How much memory are they trying to split up among 593 sites on that one server?  Is it 155 GB or is it 256K?

Suggestion:  Go find hosting with someone else, then send them the bill for the new hosting account that is above and beyond your current contract with them.  Advise them they can pay that difference to you each and every month for breaching the contract they drafted and had you agree to when you signed up with them.  Arvixe has a huge history of this Bait & Switch and it's time they caught on it won't be tolerated.  When they refuse, if your in the US, drag their asses into a courtroom, willin' to bet a judge will more than help you out with this.

Not sure it's a fair comparison but I'll let you see  a couple of the test domains I run.

http://mydatery.com

http://bffdomain.com

Keep in mind, those are both test domains that run on a small part of my Dedicated servers.  I host with http://hostforweb.com as the majority here knows and the only other one I can recommend currently is http://terabyte-hosting.com You will need to sit down, talk with them both in-depth and ask alot of questions to see which can provide you with the best service.  Ask the same questions of both and then go from there.

I can tell you both are configured to run Dolphin, HFW is who Boonex hosts their own sites with and terabyte-hosting came about specifically to host dolphin sites, so this let's you know they both know what they're doing.  You can check the speed of TH by going to terabyte-hosting.com as they run a Dolphin site specifically as their main site.

Note:  I do have a D7 Install, but it is not available for public review as it's an R&D version right now.  Sorry guys, that would be like gettin' to see my D6 R&D site.  You know it's not gonna happen.  :))

Final Note:  If a host promises you unlimited anything then there is a game going on, it is not possible to give you unlimited bandwidth/disc space/memory/CPU and so on as this means they will set the limit someplace your not looking.  They use the term "unlimited" on the things the newbies will recognize but catch you on the things you don't know about yet.  Bad, Bad, Bad Idea.
