Help with Dolphin & Ray install

I have a VPS hosting package.  One of the applications they have part of a catalog is Dolphin.

I installed it to the root of the host and everything is working ok....except Ray...

The version installed is dolphin v.6.0.0 installed from Application Packaging Standard (APS) catalog.

It works ok except Ray.  When i click on it in the admin panel I get nothing but a pop up window.

How the Application Packaging Standard (APS) catalog  has RAY that says I can install ray v.3.0.0   (Release 12) but since I installed Dolphin in the root it wont let me install anymore packages.

I have been trying to read up on this and I see there is a diffrence between this version and the new ones?  How do I get RMS working on this and how do I get the rest of the site running?

Thanks for the help.

Why do you want 6.0.0 ?  Dolphin is currently extremely stable and more useful in 6.1.6 version.  Strongly suggest you delete the database, delete the files (otherwise the entire site) and FTP a copy of Dolphin 6.1.6 onto your site unless you have a really special reason for using a really old version of Dolphin.

Yea.. you should install the latest version of Dolphin and the Ray Media Server.

6.1.6 is the latest build. Our users on our servers have minimal issues with this build. It's also very stable.

Oh my... yes I would delete the version that you have now and then download and install the latest version then install it. You will find that it is much better... :)

I installed 6.0.0 becuase that is built into my VPS ..so basically clicked a button and filled in a couple fields and it was up and running.

I would like to upgrade without deleting the DB any help would be great!

I was debatign on the RMS ...The install looks pretty detailed....would it be just as easy to use the free rms.boonex.com?

Any and all help is appreciated.

you need to tell your host that they need to update the auto install script. Dolphin 6.0.0 is a security nightmare, you are asking for trouble. the upgrade process is extremely tedious to get from 6.0 - 6.1.6, and honestly will cost you more than its actually worth. RMS really is that bad to install, just have to have the right configuration on the server for everything to run.

as for running the free rms from boonex, good luck with that one. with 100k others looking to do the same thing for free, you can only imagine what type of performance you can expect.

Cassidy, you've been with Boonex for 4 days, exactly how many members can you have in this DB that it will be a nightmare to delete and re-install?  Your looking at major security issues, immense time to update from 6.0.0 to 6.1.6 and a huge cost issue if you don't know how to do this yourself.  In addition, the RMS that is currently out is most likely NOT going to work with a 6.0.0 site as all items have been majorly upgraded.

Heck, if you want I'll install 6.1.6 for you for free if your really that confused about the set up to get it running.  But it sounds as if your host doesn't particularly desire to work with Dolphin if he is only at 6.0.0 still.  VPS or not, you need to upgrade this thing in a major way if you want it to work for you in the long run.
