Help with registering dolphin!

I have an unlimited dolphin license, but I am not able to register my copy of dolphin because allow_url_fopen is turned off. I have talked to my hosting company and they said for security reasons that they won't turn it on. They suggested I use cURL, but I don't know how any of that stuff works.

So my question is... Is there a way for my to get my license connected with dolphin without using allow_url_fopen?

Thank you.

can you not create a php.ini file in notepad, or if one already exists, and add:

allow_url_fopen= On

then upload it to your root directory of your dolphin install to overwrite their settings?

I can, but it doesn't affect anything. It still won't let me use the allow_url_fopen function.

this is one of the many reasons why it is of the utmost importance to have a dolphin compliant hosting service provider. not every server will allow the features and settings that are required for running dolphin. that is a well known fact, and until the masses can come to terms with that fact, then we are going to continue answering questions of this sort.

dolphin compliant hosting is necessary bottom line.

If you cannot change this value yourself, your only option is to contact your web hosting company and beg them to change it for you. Chances are, though, they won't.

Where's that ranking system when you need it (for web hosting companies)?

$1.99 hosting just looks so good from afar.

just poking fun here, im sure you pay way more for your hosting like $3.99
