Hide administrator profile

Hi,

How can I make my administrator profile invisible to users ?

It shows up as a member profile and has a permalink, but I don't want anyone to know what my admin username is for security reasons.

If I deactivate the admin profile, will i still be able to log in ?

Thanks

Why not make the Admin Profile Username:

Admin

Then it wouldn't matter and create a profile for yourself.  Or do you not want to deal with issues that your members whine about?

If I change it to admin, will it automatically be hidden ?  (i tried to name it different than admin so that it couldn't be guessed)

Basically, I only have 1 active user at the moment, which is my admin account.  I don't particularly want it to show anywhere on the site but at the moment it appears in "new members" list and if you browse members it appears.

I suppose if you change it to "administration," it may remain hidden behind the actual directory of the same name.

Won't work.  In D6 we got to the admin panel by typing yoursite.com/admin and it went straight to admin login.  However, in D7 when you type yoursite.com/administration it tries to pull up a profile and you have to type yoursite.com/administration/

I suppose you can try something to have the directory appear over any profile.

Thanks for your input guys, I created a second admin (just incase I messed up) and tried "deactivating" the original one in the members to see what effect it had.  It done exactly what i needed and removed all traces of the profile that I use as admin.  Effectivley making the admin an "unapproved" member.

Why didn't you just re-name the other admin account?

I didn't want to have my main admin account called "admin" "administration" "administrator" or anything obvious, just to increase security a bit.  Also by renaming it, it would still appear in the "browse people" section.

So rename your admin account Matthew or something and nobody will know it is an admin.

If you're worried about security, password the admin area using your hosting control panel & use a different password than your account login.

thefakenet supplied the clues and I did the legwork.  Instant invisible admin.  Try it and let me know how it works out for you.  Back up your DB first, just in case.

Someday, Someway.
