Homepage Navigation question

I would like my homepage VISIBLE to all (members and guests) but I only want my mebers to be able to navigate and clickon the links.   and when a guest tried to click ona blog or gorup - it asks them to sign-in and register...is this possible?

yes it is possible, its done in the admin>membership levels i believe, (without looking.) there is one thing you should know though, if you have "running in free mode" ticked i believe none of the permissions work, it just opens up your site to everybody.

admin>settings>membership levels>

ok - I am still kinda new to this - if I untick free mode, can I still make membership free?   Can you outline what I would need to do to make this happen?   Thanks for your help, on the matter

you can do this at your Admin Panel. Go to Settings and then Membership Levels. You can simply give membership actions to a standard membership there.

unticking the free mode is nothing to do with allowing members to use your site for free, its just a way of permitting what different levels of membership can do on your free site.

.

on the same page where you untick "run site in free mode" if you scroll down you will see "manage membership types" this is where you can allow different types of membership and what they can do via the drop down menu named Add action

.

.

for instance, non members cant do anything on my site, standard members can do some things but cant use the chat or IM or use the blog. Promotional members can do most things but are limited to so many actions per 24 hours for 28 days before they are knocked down to standard again. I made a group called VIP members, they get unlimited use of the site. Its up to you how they gain this status, doesnt have to be payed members, just trusted ones, and you can put any member you like to any levels you create.
