How Do I Whitelist An IP? A Member Cannot Login.

One of my most participatory members has suddenly been unable to login to my site the last 3 days. The ID & PW are correct (despite the error message saying ID & PW don't match), so I am thinking it's an IP block. But how? This member is in the US (Maryland). I have the IP address.

I've given her another set of logins as a test and the same "error" message appeared on her screen.

I can login using both ID/PW, and so can my business partner 1,500 miles away - so we know the logins work OK.

What could be causing this?

How do I whitelist her specific IP if this is indeed the cause?

Thanks.

The ID & PW are correct (despite the error message saying ID & PW don't match),

The first thing I'd suggest, is that the user type her password into Windows notebook(NO extra spaces!), then copy it to the clipboard.  Then instead of typing the password into the login, place the cursor in the PW field and hit "CTRL V"

Sometimes PC keyboards go bad, and a single key doesn't work. If that were the case, you can think you're typing in your password, but it's not actually being entered.  The above test would let you know if that's what is happening.  If it still doesn't work, the problem is something else.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

We think alike. I had her copy/paste directly from the email. Didn't work.

She also tried logging in thru her tablet as a second device. Didn't work either.

I'm looking at this IP Blacklist system.

IP Blacklist Mode (1 - Total Block, 2 - Login Block): 2

IP List Type (0 - Disabled, 1 - All Allowed Except Listed, 2 - All Blocked Except Listed): 0

Do I change IP List Type To 1 and leave it blank? That should allow all IP's, right?

By setting the IP List Type To 1, this member is now able to once again login to the site.

I don't understand why her residential home IP was suddenly blocked to start with. I did a search on the mysql db for her IP and nothing came up out of the ordinary (just that she uses that IP to access the site).

Where is/was her IP being blocked from in Dolphin? There must be a list of "bad IP's" somewhere.

If you have spam filters on in the admin you can always go though them and check the logs. Home IP change all the time and your member might have gotten one that is listed in one of dolphin spam filters if you are using them..
