How Do you correctly make MODERATORS?

someone told me to change the mysql data in

profiles->role to 2 for moderator and 3 for admin

I tried this and the newly created moderators could not log onto their accounts.

there passwords only worked when profiles->role was set back to 1.

what is the correct way to make a site moderator? or another admin?

anyone?

please help

you could create a Membership Profile that has the correct edit settings and apply them to the needed profiles

Deanos tools. allows you to assign anyone admin rights. For creating Moderators, I do it by creating a 'moderator' membership, then assigning them access to everything. You could even create individual moderators, like forum moderators, news moderators, etc just by the permission levels you give them in membership settings.

AFAIK, there are no moderation settings by default that could be achieved by creating a membership level.

 why not?

membership accounts can be created to edit a lot of functions of the site.
