How come some of my videos process and some dont

For some reason some of my videos process and some dont. When I go to upload a video sometimes they go through fine and I can play them but then there are other times where they stay in  process and never process.

Anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks

I bet it has to do with the options and formats your copy of FFmpeg supports.

what should I do?

Well, Dolphin is set up in the Spy Module to monitor the types of Videos uploaded.  The Spy will scan all video uploads and those that contain items it doesn't like (certain types of porn, bad humor or just plain old documentary type stuff and vacations) it won't allow your site to process.  You have to quit uploading those types of videos.

Just kidding.  Look at the videos you uploaded that it processes and those it doesn't.  You should see they are in different formats and that is most likely your issue.  Quit uploading the format that doesn't work.

I had the same problem.  Make sure you give the videos ample time to process.  Do not try to view the video while it is processing even through the admin tool.  What I do is look at the video/files folder on the ftp site.  You will see that it creates the thumbs and has a working file for the video while it is processing.  Once it converts to an FLV it is done, you can then go approve it.

Hi guys

There is no any filters for videos with "bad"contents :) and there is no necessity to avoid opening processing files. The main reason why some of the videos are being processed successfully while others are not is just presence or non-presence of certain video (audio) codec in our converter. We'll add more video and audio codecs in future. Also we'll try to add a handler for bad codec videos that will tell you about non-ability to convert the video.

Compile a custom version of ffmpeg.

Hi there,

I worked with Skadate in the past and switched to Dolphin, due to several "issues" ;-)

So the same "problem" happens here for Video conversion ... I only experience, that there are problems with WMV files for converting,

plus files uploaded in mpg/mpeg2 format. Nevertheless my ffmpeg is serverside supported with WMV codecs, it does not work. The cronjob

does not even try to convert these files, it just bypasses the conversion-process. Same happened with my older Skadate installation, where

ffmpeg was called by root, not via http/flash ffmpeg.

So currently I recommend my users to convert those files manually by using e.g. Riva FLV, which converts to flv from WMV etc. It's free and

fast. Nevertheless it's kind of additional work for users and inconvenient for most of the users ... So I hope this "bug" or missing feature is

solved soon :-)

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
