How do I adjust the elements of the Orca Forums?

Hi, (Today's Date 05/05/10)

I need to change some things in Orca Forums.

1. The Date: From European to American

2. Subscribe/Unsubscribe: I want to change the language to EmailMe/UnEmailMe

3. The Folder and Topic icons: I want to customize these myself.

4. Change the columns: from 2 columns to 1 column.

How is it done?

To change images - right click on them to view in a new window - note the path - this is where they are on your server - simply upload your new images to the same location with the same name

No... I'm not.  When someone wants to change the language from Subscribe & Unsubscribe  to EmailMe  & UnEmailMe. it gives me stress.

Hmmm. Here are some alternatives.... EmailMeNot, StopEmailingMe, DeEmailMe, NixTheEmails, EmailMeOneMoreTimeAndI'llDriveABootInYerAss. None of these have the same sweet ring as "UnEmailMe." I am however, open to suggestions... Provided it relates to receiving an email to follow the thread.

As for Subscribe/Unsubscribe, that language does not tell noobs (like me) what it's real function is.

Subscribe & Unsubscribe is the language used on just about every forum on the planet.  Don't mess with it.  There are plenty of other things for you to worry about.

Either way, all of your alternatives kill the English language, so you might as well do it. You can change this by editing the language file.

Personally, I like "EmailMeWhenNewReplyIsMade" and "DontEmailMeWhenNewReplyIsMade."

Agreed. Subscribe and Unsubscribe are the standards. Anything else just sounds silly.

Problem is i misspelled it.

And  i just tried to look it up on godaddy, the search came back with select another name to search for. Guess they did not like the name godaddy in it.

I don't have a answer for the other ones, but this one, yes, you can make your own. As for the size. The folder icons are bigger than most of the others, Look at the origionals. The folder icon on the forum index page for example is 32x64 and contains both the open folder and close folder in the same image.

The other icons are 16x16

Get a copy of the firebug plugin for firefox. With that tool you will be able to right click on the image and firebug will tell you what directory it is in, and what CSS is used for it. The icons specified in CSS can be changed to any file format you want and can have any name you want and all you would need to do is change the css to reference the new image. But not all of the forum specifies images in CSS. In those cases you must used the same file format and name as the origional image. You can change them, but you need to find them all.

For the date, have you tried playing with the date settings in Settings>Advanced Settings>Variables?  Could be wrong, but I think those settings are universal for Dolphin and would affect the Forum.  Worth a try.

For the single column, try Builders>Pages Blocks>Forums Index.  Move Forum Posts and Forums into the same column.  Delete the empty column and then set the remaining to full width.  Could work.

If you've already tried both of these then I couldn't say.

Your path to set the date standard to American is correct but, for some reason it won't apply to the forum.

However, The solution you gave for the single column in the Forum is correct.

You can change the date format in the header.inc.php file under ./modules/boonex/forum/inc/.
