How do I log into a members account?

Is there some way to do this without changing their password?  Since my first members have not set their avatar, I want to go in and do that for them until either Boonex fixes this, or I figure out a good way to communicate it to them.  See:

Related topic - there aren't nearly as many options for blocks on the homepage as there were in 6.1.  Remember "profile pictures" - it seems to be gone.    The "members" block shows everyone, event those with that gray default pic, so the profile pictures was a nice alternative.

Until Admin & Moderator tools are better developed, you only have one option, but there are 2 ways in how this can be done.

You have no choice but to change the members password.

1, Change from admin, the problem here is the it is then up to the member requested & reset a new password or

2: Using phpMyAdmin you will need to copy the hashed password from an account that you know what the password is, by going to each member first make a copy of their hash password code, then replace with the code you know, login the members account as the member, make the changes, then add their password code back.

A hassle I know, but a least the member can still login without the hassle of requesting a new password.

That is a huge pain in the ass, but it does sound like it would work.  Thanks for the information.

Handsconnect - this didn't work.  I tried your second approach, and copied the hashed code from my profile password field, to the members account password field in php/myadmin.  The code in the passwords field of the profile table is now identical, however I cannot log into the members account with this password, but I can still log into mine.  I have no idea why this would be but there must be something I don't understand.  Could someone explain this to me?

Rob,

It works I just tested to check, I did have to try to log in twice, failed the first time, worked the second time.

Your post reminded me - I forgot to clear the cache - but even that didn't work.  You have to manually delete the user files in the cache, then after you log in and change the password back, don't forget to delete then again or your users will not be able to log in.  All this to get member avatar pictures to display!  What a royal pain in the ass.
