Now Now, lets not be rude to people who don't understand everything like you do.  If I had a questions about overhauling a engine, I sure wouldn't want to hear, "Well obiviously, since you haven't worked on engines all your life -  but your here at an engine forum asking questions, the answer is da da da."

Beta versions are for testing purposes only.  Don't waste your time working on Betas.  The scripting changes so often with no updates from Beta to Beta.  You should wait until Dolphin 7 is officially released, or at least until the RC versions come out, when updates will available from version to version before spending a lot of time on Dolphin 7.  Use Dolphin 6.1.6 for now, then when Dolphin 7 comes out, there will surely be an updates from 6.1.6 to 7.

I don't Tyke was being rude - he was just pointing out that he hadn't been reading the forums - because we have been talking ourselves blue in the face about this.   Pierreh - this is the wrong forum for this issue - see the "Dolphin Beta's and RC's" forum - that is where we are trying to get this issue addressed.

I think you might be wrong about that, from what i can gather, D7 is too different from D6 for an ugrade path to be viable

I may have been raised a differently, but that sounds a little condensending to me.  Either way, its cool :D

Perhaps you are right regarding upgrades from Dolphin 6.1.6 to Dolphin 7.  I would hate to think though that everybody who currently has 6.1.6 can't upgrade to Dolphin 7 and have to start completely over.  Hopefully there may be a script to move member profiles and media over at least.

My apologizes for pointing fingers. :D

You can do member profiles and photos from 6.1.6 to 7.  i have done this already.  it was not easy to do as the database tables are no longer the same. so you basicly have to move them over by hand and change some table names.

Dolphin jay makes a good point, BUT, the vast amount of members arent that skilled to be able to do that by hand. It's still early days yet so nobody knows for sure, but from all ive been reading, it does look like there wont be a D6 to D7 upgrade path that is simple and straight forward that all users can manage.

The impression im getting at this stage is that  you have to start from scratch to use D7. Im sure there will always be somebody that can do it for you though if you get stuck.

Thank you very much, but my problem is that I have an old site with Dolphin 6.12 and I would like at least the meter to 6.16 without losing users.

NB: If you know of a tutorial, it would be nice

Well, since I do not know "exactly" what differs in the versions. Might be a time-consuming manual process but you can follow the upgrade path using the following links:

To upgrade from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3

To upgrade from 6.1.3 to 6.1.4

To upgrade to 6.1.5, and then 6.1.6 go HERE and download the upgrade packs.

Gonna be a pain in the butt... butt.. its better than nothing.

Nothing to see here
