How to Take Away Spam Members

Hi,

I always got new members everyday but I know it´s just the same person, but they are using different IP addresses.  I have already manually deleted the members but at next day new sign-up coming again from the same place.

Are you sure its 'the same person'? 

Looks like your site is being joined by lots of different spamming members most likely from China.

Do you want members on your site from China?

If not, then the best method I have found is to use this mod by member ESASE

Its free also which is great and has so far been the best 'defense' against spammers on my sites.

Just select all the countries you want to allow and dont allow China.

I would bet money that your 'one person' is most likely just lots of Chinese spammers....

happens to all Dolphin sites.

 What version of Dolphin are you using? 

The newest versions have great spam blocking.

I am using 7.0.6 and this night I will try to upgrade to 7.0.7.

i haved trouble with spammers but for my country (Serbia) i was doing that in hard way to get rid of them(95%).

im using now 7.0.3 dolphin but there is prob they register theirself and that makes double trouble becouse activation comes few days later after (depends what you set ).so i decide to remove activation period for membership to make little easier and there is great deano tool for getting IP adresses but i banning them on cpanel from host using range for whole provider that comming for example from china.

How can i find what IP range using that provider from where comming spam att?

I use this adress http://whois.domaintools.com/   just copy ip adress and paste in search and you will get info from where comming att and what IP range using that provider.

For now i have blocked over 80 chinese providers,some korean and some US that have been rent.I hope that this can be usefull for someone.

I have the same problem...the spammers is form all the world evry day I must eliminate 4-8 person...

I think the Join By Country module is not working for my site. Still I got spammers from the same country (Aland Islands). Please any advice.

I was having this same problem and it was very annoying. E-mail confirmation after signing up to my site killed all them spammers from china. 

Goldhunter, just do e-mail confirmation and they will go away. I had hundreds of spammers from Aland Island and I did this.  They are gone now. Plus I think e-mail confirmation is better for any website. 

I had the same issue and turning the site to join by invitation only in the admin section shut them down.  I turn that on at night when they normally joined and now I have no issue..........I hope that helps you...............

I've turned off "auto-approve" and turned on "email confirmation" but still spend each day manually deleting 20 to 50 fake profiles each day.  Because the "auto approve" function is turned off, these fake members can't do anything; but it's a pain having them listed in my admin's "members" list everyday.

There has to be SOMETHING to prevent this from happening on a regular basis.  Boonex needs to address this because it's been going on for the years that I've had Dolphin.  Other platforms like WordPress has issues like this years ago.  There's a lot of WP plugins to prevent these idiots from spamming.  Why hasn't Boonex been able to accomplish this?

Have you tried the built in spam blocking tools, Akismet or Spamhaus?

I know people are sick of hearing me say this but if you're on a VPS or Dedicated you can install mod_security and set it up to block all html links.... that will cut out 99% of them.

Wow, every time we talk about spammers here a spammer posts on our thread?? Why in the WORLD would a spammer think it's a good idea to spam a spam post??

Oh and what happened to having to upgrade to the $5 membership to post here?

That was removed a while ago, but it may come back.
