How to alter the Login box

I need to know how to alter the login box as i have many users forgetting that the names they see displayed under there pictures are NOT their Login ID's LOL...

Could you be a bit more specific in how you need to alter the login box?

username field accepts email too so change the label to email instead of username :-)
Or add tekst under username label saying. username is not your first or lastname
