You can edit the language keys and links, which would cause problems when upgrading. I assume links-wise, you'd just need to change the RewriteRules in the .htaccess file and the permalinks information in the module's classes. I wouldn't recommend going as far as changing the table names, though (very possible, but time-consuming and annoying).
