How to upgrade from 6.1.6?

Can someone point me to documentation that shows how to upgrade to 7?

6.1.6 is my first dolphin install...so I've never upgraded before. What would be the proper procedure? I have one custom module installed. It's the SMTP mailer module called kmailer (by user kolimarfey).

Cool. One more question though, I have a licensed version of dolphin. Will I get version 7 for free or is there some sort of cost to that?

Nothing has changed license-wise. There are the same limitations with the free version and licenses are version-independent.

Awesome! Just 2 more questions. Since I have that custom SMTP module installed on 6.1.6, the maker of that module stated that I would have to reinstall dolphin from scratch.

So I wanted to know if this would be the correct procedure:

1. backup the database

2. reinstall dolphin 6.1.6 from scratch

3. import my database

4. upgrade to 7.0

And if the above procedure is correct, I needed to know if all of the custom fields I created within the fields builder are stored in the database.....or are they stored in some sort of flat file format like XML? I wanted to make sure that all of those settings get imported again so I don't have to recreate them. It was a LOT of fields.

You should just follow the upgrade installations from the documentation provided. There's no need to reinstall Dolphin 6.1.6 since you'll be upgrading via the migration module from within your new Dolphin 7 installation. It's as follows:

1. Backup site and database
2. Install Dolphin 7 in a subdirectory
3. Install all module currently being used on your Dolphin 6.1.6 site, including the migration module
4. Run the migration module, which will transfer all profiles, photos, videos, etc. from Dolphin 6.1.6 to Dolphin 7
5. Install the new SMTP mailer module from kolimfarey (linked above) if you wish to continue to use this modification
6. Move the Dolphin 6.1.6 site into a subdirectory or simply delete it
7. Move the Dolphin 7 site to the main directory and make the needed changes to your header.inc.php file

That's essentially it.

I should have also mentioned that the migration process relies on cron jobs, so make sure you have one properly configured for the Dolphin 7 site.

I'm trying to begin the 6.1.6 to 7.0 upgrade but I have no idea where to download 7.0. I see where to get 7.02 but nothing before that.

Can someone direct me to the right place?

Also, I see instructions for 7.0 to 7.1. Then at the top it shows 7.0 RC at the top. What exaclty is 7.0 RC and at what point does it apply to me if at all?
