I am having a problem with language settings and module language.

Hello All!

This problem started when I was installing my first module. I went to the module panel and installed a module.  When the module installed and I went to the next page, all these underscores and brackets came up on the pages but the module I installed had no problems.  So I went to the language settings panel and recompiled the language.  Then the pages were fine but the module language had the problem of underscores.  I went to the module panel and compiled the language, then it went back to the original problem.  I even transfered a new fresh lang-en.php file via ftp after that and the same problem it didn't fix nothing.  So i ran out of ideas I went through forums and google for days and days I didn't find nothing that helped so can someone please help me.

Thanks

i uploaded screenshots for you to see what it looks like.

that is your lang file and lang keys doing that. but you say it didnt do this until you installed a module?

can you verify that the problem is persistent on the default UNI template? if that module is causing all of your lang strings to go crazy, i would contact the mod developer and ask what is up with that?

Thanks for the reply DosDawg!

Yes, it is definitely the lang.

Well, how do you verify if the problem is persistent on the default UNI template?  I actually don't know how to do that, I am fairly new to website building.  The mod that started this is a mod that came with Dolphin when I installed Dolphin and its all the mods that do this when I install them.  I am determine to find the problem.

Looking at your site, I see the polls has a problem  and a few other places..

Perhaps the template.. I know one thing, the fonts are extremely hard to read.

Yea when I install modules through the modules panel that what it looks like.  All modules I install look like that.  This is a real head banger and aggravating.  I don't know what to do to fix this.  As for the template, it is the default template I am using?

I was giving that font a chance but you are right for a lot of people its hard to read that font!  Time to find another font.

Hello All

Wow!  I have been working on this module thing for about a month now and I haven't found a way to fix it yet.  I'm still having the same problem that is described in the original post of this thread.  I have not yet found a solution on how to fix this annoying problem but i am not giving up now.

When I compile the language for the module it looks fine "on the module I have installed only" and the rest of the website goes hay wire with underscores in the words.  So I go via ftp and upload a fresh lang-en.php to the langs file on my site and the website looks fine now but then the module i have install goes back to the old way, words with underscores.  I have compiled the lang for the the module but it does nothing it stays the same way and when I compile the language in the language settings it screws the whole site up again, only the module I have installed looks fine after I do that.

DosDawg, Yes this is a  persistent problem on the default UNI template.

I don't know what else to do.  I hope someone can please help me with this!

Wow!

Finally, I fixed this problem!  What a relief.

What I did was backed up my site and deleted my database in cpanel because i figured this problem was something I did wrong before when I first started using Dolphin and didn't know nothing about Dolphin.  Then I created a new database with a different name " I don't think this is necessary to do but if you do change the name of the database you are going to have to change the name in the inc/header.inc.php folder when you upload the back up to the server. more info on this at http://www.boonex.com/forums/?action=goto&search=1#topic/Database-Error-Help-.htm". Then I uploaded D7 in my file manager and did a fresh D7 installation with all the new info.  Finally after doing that I uploaded my back up file to the server and changed the necessary info in the inc/header.inc.php folder.  And that was that everything looks fine and working properly.

I am so excited that I fixed this issue! It took a while but with the help of you all and Unity forum, I did it.  Thank you all and keep up the good work! CoolSealed I'm here to stay lol enjoy!

KUDOS to you for hanging in there, and not blaming dolphin or boonex for your woes. about 95% of the issues on a dolphin site are user-error. when i state that i am including 3rd party module developers in that group.

if you take a default install of dolphin, there are glitches, but the site still works. if you add modules or have others add modules, the problem there is that if they change a core file or two, they never report that to you, and there is only one way to know, and that would be to look in the logs after they have completed their work.
