I can't get captcha to work.

I am at a complete loss but I can't get captcha to work. 

I am given a site key and a secret key by google.

I try plugging them into the site. I used "site key"  as "Recaptcha public key" and I used "secret key" as "recaptcha private key", but I am not sure what else I have to do. Google gives all sorts of code but do I need to place that in my theme files or? 

Right now no one can signup because they just see text saying "_FieldCaption_Security_Image_Join". 

I can't exactly disable the captcha as for some reason dolphin refuses to allow admin to make that decision for themselves. 

So how do I make this work
