I have cancelled my Admin Account

Hi there,

by cancelling some dead accounts I've cancelled mine as well as the ADMIN.

As administrator I can't log in anymore in my own website.

How can I fix that? It's very URGENT!!

Thanks

Alex

Oh...and by cancelling my own account (which is always preselected in order to be DELETED) I have deleted over 300 events = 2 years of work. What system on earth allows to DELETE the ADMIN account without even a damn warning??? I can trash my website now, Thanks

I know that such warnings are in a ticket, but I think that's for Dolphin 8.  You need to be careful when doing operations like this.

I would have gone to a recent backup to restore your site to before you did the delete..

does your cPanel have "R1 Soft Restore Backups" in your files section?

I actually did this early on in creating my site - the only way to fix it without losing all of the Admin's profile information/posting/etc. was to reinstall the most recent backup. I'm still amused that the general response to the fact that it is easy to delete the admin profile w/o warning is: "be more careful" when there are warnings for all kinds of other things. If you delete an email from your onsite mailbox it prompts you with an "Are you sure?" but not if you delete a member? Odd.

Thanks for all feedback guys!

You are all right!!!

However after this last setback I've made up my mind. I've completely removed the Dolphin installation and instead I've rebuilt my entire website with WordPress. I've been able to do in 2 weeks at ZERO cost everything which I've not been able to build with Dolphin in 2 years spending hundreds of dollars.

Let me say that I've loved Dolphin at the begin. The possibilities where in theory virtually unlimited. However it's  monstrous complexity, unnecessary clutter and slow development process to keep it up to current publishing standards makes it sadly no longer the first choice. It probably still is a very good system for experienced programmers. But for everyone else is pretty much a nightmare to keep it running.

With this I wish to say hello and good luck to all the nice people that I've met in this community (Nathan your help has always been superb).

My next step is to now DELETE my account,

Au revoir

By the way it's funny that I can't DELETE my unity account myself (I have to send an email to the agents) but it's so damn easy to remove my own ADMIN account on my own Dolphin website.

.......it's really hard to see some logic here....

don't compare your dolphin accounts with unity accounts it doesn't make sense lol

so much to do....

It's a good system to MAKE you an experienced programmer. If you stuck with it for 6 more months you would learn so much about web based programming, how servers work, how to thwart spammers and hackers etc. etc. etc.

I love Wordpress too, but if I had found it first I wouldn't know 90% of what I know now.
