Logged in as an administrator, navigate to the root of your forum and click the compile languages link at the top.

You'll find you can save money by searching the forums, first.

I was looking for.
This solution does not work.

Isn't this  [L[Forums Index]] how the forum looks after a fresh install? try create some categories for the forum by signing in as admin and add a topic or 2 and everything should be fine.

Quote · 16 May 2010

try:

Settings > Language Settings > (English?) tick the box > Press Compile

Quote · 16 May 2010

There is more than one possible cause. Some of which the cause is unknown.

Describe what happens when you click the [[L]en] link.

1) If nothing happens, then problem is related to JavaScript. So far not a single solution to this has been found. At least none that i have seen in the forums. The only successful solution i have found is a reinstall of dolphin.

2) If it says compiling has failed then there are things you can try. Sometimes work. Sometimes don't. For this problem, the only successful solution i have found is a reinstall of dolphin.

You could also try holding your right leg at a 90 degree right angle, whistling "B-I-N-G-O" in the key of C#, and a working a Bolo paddle in your left hand.

OR

If you are using a custom template, make sure that you have your template folders in modules/boonex/forum/layout/ directory. Such as:

mytemp001

mytemp001_en

If you do not, then make a copy the uni and uni_en folders and rename them as YOUR template name. in that directory. THEN go into Admin Panel > Modules> Orca Forum.. Try clicking the Compile EN again. Once you have clicked it.. Just refresh the page. :)

Nothing to see here
Quote · 16 May 2010

Sorry Zarcon. Must disagree with one of your suggestions.

I forgot about the possible custom template.

However i disagree with copying the uni_en folder.

The folders with the _en on the end are created when the language is compiled. Thus are owned by the apache web server. If you copy these by ftp or cpanal then they are owned by that account thus will create a problem when compiling. You will get a compile failed check permissions error.

I agree Deano. You should not make a copy the uni_en folder in that directory for your custom template (if you are using one). That directory wil be created as soon as you click the compile button.

Thanks for the correction :)

I am having problems with forums and now have this error message which is driving me crazy Warning: require_once(/home/p343614r/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/layout/skin004/params.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/p343614r/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/integrations/base/config.php on line 97

can someone please help me with this problem

Quote · 17 May 2010

@evensio,

The file params.php doesn't exist in your folder.

I think you uploaded the custom template "skin004" to your templates folder.

But with a new template there is also a folder called "forum" in the package. Copy the content of that folder to modules/boonex/forum/layout and you're done.

It you don't have a folder called forum , just go to modules/boonex/forum/layout and copy a folder and rename to skin004.

@ the others.

I tried all your solutions... nothing is working.

Still have the [L[...]]

Anyone???

Quote · 17 May 2010

Ok I did that and still have the same error message for the file

Quote · 17 May 2010

yes you're right

sorry forgot the last part...

open params.php in your new created skin004 AND skin004_en folder.

rename the lines 5, 7 and 8 to your new template name :

$gConf['dir']['xsl'] = $gConf['dir']['layouts'] . 'skin004/xsl/';    // xsl dir
$gConf['url']['css'] = $gConf['url']['layouts'] . 'skin004/css/';    // css url
$gConf['url']['xsl'] = $gConf['url']['layouts'] . 'skin004/xsl/';    // xsl url

Did you clear the cache after your changes? I'd go in and clear cache and cache_public (leave the .htaccess file) and try it again.

Where might I find cache_public I always clear cache when making changes

./cache_public/ is a directory located in the root of your installation. You will also want to empty the ./cache/ directory, but do not delete the included .htaccess file.

I was having the same problem the languages just would not compile correctly the way i finally got it to work was by deleting the en language file from my server.I cleared the cash from the admin panel and re-uploaded it from the install pack then i recompiled in the admin panel and then went to the forums and recompiled. It worked not really sure why and i cant promise it will work for you.

Thanks houstonlively now is this integration going to be easy to install or am I going to need coffee for this job as well?

Quote · 19 May 2010

Easy, is a relative term.  This integration only replaces the main forum, so you'll still need to have Orca working for Groups and Events.

It'll cost a few hundred bucks to put IPB on your site, but I think it's worth every penny.  You'll also get to add other applications to IPB.  There's a pretty good arcade mod available free.  IPB3 is fairly new, and there aren't many addons yet, but there is no doubt that there will be.

have you tried what i mentioned above....I eventually had to delete the en file and replace it to actually get it to work

Quote · 19 May 2010

Where is the en file located for this please detailed instructions My eyes are burning from exhaustion please solution please!!!!!

Quote · 20 May 2010

All of the forums compiled _en folders are in modules\boonex\forum\layout

The only ones you want to remove are the ones ending with _en. Such as...................

base_en
uni_en
mysuperdupertemplate_en

Ect.

Some templates if they add files to the base folder don't compile correctly unless base is also recompiled.

So before doing anything you should make sure the UNI template is set as default in admin. Then start with recompiling the forums running the UNI template then work your way to any custom templates. But you always start with the default one first.

I gave up trying to fix the forum a while back. I just deleted all access to the forum, and installed phpbb at mysite.com/a_WORKING_forum!...added the needed links within my d7 site and had no issues since. PHPBB is free and close to the standard.

This sentance says nothing, and its possibly spellt wrong.
