No, I not going to post something in the utterly useless jobs section. I just want any of you coders that may be interested, to let me know via PM what approximately 2 months of your time would cost me. That's roughly 300-400 hours of your undivided attention. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |

you would need to give a bit more information into what sort of module, so you get the coder that can do that particular type of module

No I don't... I just need a coder with a well rounded skill set that is familiar with Dolphin. That skill set would be php, mysql, javascript, jquery, ajax. While what I need is complex, it is not difficult to understand.

Well yea, we kinda do need to know to make a decision. While my skills are quite good, there are plenty of areas of dolphin i cannot work with. Rats nest coding. Music, Video, Forums, and several others.
Anyhoo. I do not have the time right now, but might next month or so when i should have my work load caught up.
My cost for 300-400 hours is between $4500-$6000

I just can't divulge any specific details in a public forum, but I'll try to give a generalized theory of operation. I can say that the module would require selecting records from a database, via a live ajax search to build a list. All list items will have parameters associated with them, and all list items will have an identical set of parameters with values unique to that item. The live ajax search must return a list of items to choose from, and that list is refined as additional keywords are added to an input field. Once the user has built a list, the list must be stored in the database. Many such lists will be stored. I have the sql database completed, and once you saw it, and knew what the application was, all this would make perfect sense. I also have a live ajax search form working... just not the part where a search result item is added to a list.
The app will also make use of pie charts, bar graphs, and line graphs. It's complicated, but all basically database in and out stuff, and data presentation.

Ok, Im missing something here, and a lot of it. I guess my terminology of "coders" is flawed.
HL, I was under the impression that you are a coder, and that is exactly what you do to make really cool stuff like your sub menu. I also was under the impression that you and Deano is about neck to neck with "coding". So if you are not a coder, then what is a coder? Its been a question that I've been meaning to ask to help me understand a little better how things works around here and who is what.
For example, I know the guys that built dolphin are coders. What I never understood is that if you guys can write certain modules as well as you do, then you guys have mastered dolphin in order to write your custom mods, so why was there any need to wait (up to years) to do some of the things that you would like to have done. I hope Im making sense here.
Oh, please check your mailbox for a message from me, thanks.

Now that.... belongs in the humor forum.
I play golf.... but I'm not sure I'd call myself a golfer. I know how to handle a rifle, but I wouldn't call myself a marksman. I know a little krav maga and could probably kill someone with a pencil if I had to, but Chuck Norris could still kick my ass.
It's all about your level of skill, experience, and commitment. I know enough to do simple things. Someone once said, "It's not about what you know... It's about what you understand." If you stare at this Dolphin code for 4 years like I have, some things are bound to sink in... with me anyway. Others... not so much. Someday, my skill level may reach that of Deano's current level, but by then I'll be too old remember why I wanted the skills in the first place.

Alternatively, I would like someone to donate a lung to an organ bank. Let's see which happens first, someone donating a lung, or me finding someone to code a major project. I wouldn't take bets either way on this one. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
I am not donating sorry :(
