Index Page - IE8

Hey All,

I am having an issue where the page content on the homepage is not coming up in IE8. I works fine for everything else (FF, Opera, etc.). All the other pages are fine, its just happens when you click the main home page.

Since I really don't use IE8 alot, I cannot tell you when this started. Seems like a possible template issue but not sure since every other page works fine. Any idea?

Symptom: In IE8, when you navigate to www.mysite.com, all that displays is my Top Banner, Main Navigation Menu, and custom HTML block (instead of flash promo). No page content (members, videos, photos, bottom footers, etc.)

Thanks,

Chris

Either some security settings of IE or your template problem. Try enable all of the security items and check.

My site works fine with IE8.

I tried resetting the security permissions and got nothing. The only thing that concerns me about it being a template problem is that ALL other pages work fine EXCEPT the homepage (index.php)

I think its the template somewhere. I use a custom template and no problems in IE8 .

Killerhaai,

OK, I switched it to Uni and still got nothing. Also re-uploaded a "original" index.php and that didnt work either.

I will PM you my site and see if you can do it with IE8. It could be just mine.

Chris I'll check for you too if you need.

Sure Mauricecano, I will PM you my site address. It really doesnt make sense here. I can view ANY other page on my site with IE8 EXCEPT the main (index.php) page. So I dont know if the problem is  located at the templates/base level or not.

Thanks,

Chris

Are you running with caching on?

Have you tried dumping the contents of your cache and cache_public folders?

Reason i ask is i have had weird problems with the index page not loading while caching was on. I run with it off now. For some reason when i turn it on, every couple of days my index page stops loading.

Zarcon,

I had this same problem while editing my template, it was as simple as a font size. i was pre-editing using firefox-firebug and then editing then viewing in ie8 i made one of the fonts too big and it worked for ff but in ie most of the content disapeared

Jason, when you say content boxes do you mean where it says members, public photos, public videos, etc. ??

Cause I did recently change those names via language settings.

Update, I have tested FF, Opera, and Safari with no problems. I only get the issue with IE and ONLY the homepage.

FIRST OFF - Thanks to Mauricecano, Rhimpr, and Jasond, for their assistance in helping me resolve my issue.

With their Help I was able to locate the problem. I had wrote a few lines of text to be displayed in the Custom HTML box (instead of using the flash loader). It seems that a TON of crap code was also inserted when I did that. However I could not SEE this code unless I click the HTML button inside the TinyMCS editor.

There I could see close to 100 lines of garbage below what I had written that was interfering with IE. Once I removed that code, IE was able to display my webpage with no issues.

Again, Kudos to ALL of you who helped me resolve this.

Sincerely,

Chris
