In my admin tools:

1- Why I get warning on PHP module: xl = .? How can I fix it?

2- Query cache size and thread cache size show up as zero and hence failed; is it important? How can I fix it?

XSL/XSLT is a PHP extension that's needed for the forums to work. For MySQL, those should be set to at least 32M and 128M, respectively. Is this a shared or dedicated server? If shared, you'll need to contact your host, as only they can (usually) make the needed changes.

Thanks for reply.

I will contact my web host for MySQU, but how can I fix the PHP extension problem?

You never answered: Is this a shared or dedicated server? If shared, the host will need to add XSLT support to PHP. Otherwise it depends on if the server uses cPanel or not. If cPanel, run EasyApache and make sure XSL is ticked under the PHP options, then rebuild. For PHP from your distro's package manager (e.g., apt or yum), search for and install a PHP xml/xsl package and restart your web server.

If this is a VPS/dedicated server, and you're not sure how to tweak the server, I can take a closer look. PM me for more information.

Thanks Nathan,

I can't PM you as my membership level doesn't allow me.

I purchased a domain from Arvixe and I have no idea if it is shared or dedicated.

I wanted to upgrade PHP from cPanel to 5.6 version, but the highest they have is 5.4.

Ok, I checked with my host. It is VPS/dedicated server

Quote · 25 Jun 2015

If it's a VPS (or dedicated) you would still do what Nathan mentioned but you would do it from WHM. With either of those types of servers you can rebuild and choose any version of php you want.

Thanks Guys, but there is no option in cPanel to allow me running easyapachi?

Would you please guide me how to run easyapachi?

Quote · 25 Jun 2015

It's not in Cpanel, it's in WHM (www.yoursite.com/WHM).. When you go into WHM its one of the options under software.

Thanks mscott,

There are four options in easyapache as profile, basic apache 2.2, basic apache 2.4, MPM ITK, Mod Ruid2. Given my problem (I need to add XSLT to PHP), which profile I should run?

Quote · 25 Jun 2015

I would use whichever version you're currently using, also before you rebuild look over this list to make sure everything is there so you only have to do it once..

My web host informed me that they changed query and thread cache size and they are not zero anymore. I am also working on PHP warning problem base on your guidance and hopefully will fix it (I am absolutely illiterate in computer and network science). Now do I need to create new database in MySQL and re-install Dolphin? If so, what would happen to the database I created before and shall I delete that one or leave it?

Quote · 25 Jun 2015

No, the install and database you already did should be fine. If you're not familiar with servers and you jumped straight to a VPS this will probably be challenging while you're figuring everything out. Google will become your best friend.. Just about anything you run into someone out there will have step by step instructions.

Sorry, I forgot that Starter accounts can't sent PMs. I sent one, so you should be able to reply to that. If so, I can take a closer look and make sure your server is fully setup for Dolphin.

You used to be able to, but it seems BoonEx changed this. I don't know why they let Starter accounts post in the forums, but not send PMs.

You can email me at nathan@zarconia.net. To make server changes, I need the root password and server IP address.

Thanks Nathan, but if I am going to develop and run my own website, I have to learn myself no matter how tough it is.

I use Arvixe package which is compatible with Dolphin and I bought that package to avoid these sort of problems.

I can press build profile in easyapachi, but I am hesitating as I don't want to mess with server. What can go wrong if I make a mistake along the way?

After rebuilding the profile how can I know if XSLT is added to PHP?

If that's your approach then perhaps mScotts suggestion is what you should do.

Google is your friend and all your answers have already be answered several times here in the past..

Both PHP and cache size problems are resolved; thanks everyone for your advice.

I have two more questions which are not technical as such.

1- Currently I use trial version and the website come up like this mywebsite.com/dolphin/php.index. My understanding is that when I buy the license, it would remove reference to dolphin and website will come up as mywebsite.com; am I correct?

2- If in future for any reason I decide to move out of Dolphin and use different platform or have my website coded by programmer, can I move framework of my website and potential members at that time without being affected? If yes, I assume there would be a down time to the website during migration. How long the down time usually takes?

Quote · 26 Jun 2015

 1. No.. Dolphin was installed in a directory called "Dolphin", this has nothing to do with the license. If you don't want that to show just move it to the root directory and change /Inc/header.Inc.php to reflect the new location.

2. This question has so many variables its very difficult to answer.. But here goes.. If you move to some other platform in the future you'll have to pay a programmer to migrate everything over. This will most likely be costly and time consuming based on the amount of content and other things you need moved. THEORETICALLY you could do it with little down time if you had them do it on a test site then make it live. Again, there are a lot of variables in that question.

Thanks mscott,

Is there any instruction available for moving to the root directory? I hope I don't need to create new database and reinstall Dolphin?

Quote · 26 Jun 2015

1. Move everything from /Dolphin to /public_html

2. Update /Inc/header.Inc.php

3. Clear all the caches

Don't do anything with the database... And remember search is your friend :-)

sure I keep searching :)

And if I was wrong that buying license will help me remove dolphin from domain name, what really will be changed when I buy the license?

Quote · 26 Jun 2015

The license prevents those little pop-up "nags" that are ads for Boonex.

got it thanks.

Now I checked and realized that I already have my files in public-html, but I created a folder named Dolphin under public-html and coped all my files there. I guess I need to get rid of that folder and have all files directly under public-html?

In which case do I still need to Update /Inc/header.Inc.php and clear all the caches. And a very beginner type question, how can I clean caches; from cPanel?

You use the file manager.
