Installation Failure

I have run the 6.1 installation several times, everything performs perfectly until the end.

I'm installing on a Windows box, just for demonstration purposes, and will be installing on a linux web server w/Cpanel later, but I'm curious about this problem.

My permissions are all fine, I've installed the GD extensions and ImageMagick.

My database gets installed and set up.

I change the permissions back as requested by the Permissions Reversal page

The installer seems to be telling me Dolphin is not installed.  I expect there is a path problem somewhere, but I'm unsure where to put the appropriate scripts path to resolve this.

I click either skip or next on the Permissions Reversal (after making sure of the proper file/folder rights) and I am receiving this as a response:

not installed.
\n"; if ( file_exists( "install/index.php" ) ) { echo "Please, wait. Redirecting you to installation form...
\n"; echo " location.href = 'install/index.php'; \n"; } exit; } require_once( 'inc/header.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'design.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'admin.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'db.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'profiles.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'prof.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'members.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'news.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'utils.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'membership_levels.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'tags.inc.php' ); require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_ROOT . By following the code, I can see the install folder shouldn't be there, as in the case of any CMS product installation.  But I'm at least expecting to see a message that the install folder is there.  I don't get a message but I remove the install folder anyway,  and I'm unable to either log in as administrator (I receive the following after a flash of PHP code...):

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /Dolphin/admin/< on this server.

I'm also unable to log in the front end, I get the same message as the installer gives me at the end:

not installed.
\n"; if ( file_exists( "install/index.php" ) ) { echo "Please, wait. Redirecting you to installation form...

Any help would be really appreciated, Thanks!

This appears to be caused by the php.ini option called short_open_tag.

Rarely a problem on Linux boxes but happens a lot on windows boxes.

Check your php.ini file. This option must be on.

short_open_tag=On

That was it.  I owe you a whiskey (or at least a cup of joe...) for that.  Thank god for the folks that man the forums.

Thanks Deano!
