Video and Sound players in IE 8/9 do not render Dolphin flash stream media, 5 machines with Win7. Loading widget in player swf file indicates swf loads, but no media.Video may or may not show first frame as still.
Dolphin 7.8 with RMS installed by host on Litespeed, SSL site, dedicated IP, et.al. Flash apps widgets seem ok, (chat, etc.) All green server settings per Dolphin's Host Tools (no accelerators)
Media will Load and play fine in Firefox. Same IE browsers, same machines work fine on any other media rendering, including winamp, wimpy, various streaming and embedded swf.
Possibly related? Boonex Android app on HTC will crash when attempting to access video, audio on Dolphin 7.
Help ?

Only half true. Android does support Flash. Its the iPhone that cannot. :)

newton27: I sent a pm...
Yep, Zarcon, at least all the Androids in my family play flash.
DRautenbach, when they first came out, Adobe didn't have a plugin, but has had for some time now. Matter of fact, they just updated it. I'm wondered if that update might be part of the issue with IE.
Update this note. One Win7 laptop with IE9 does play the media fine both IE and FF...

Ok Geano,
Your set up on https:// FF Chrome seems to likes this, not IE.
Your using RMS as well but it is not on https:// when trying to make a chat room, its a no go.
I'm not that knowledgeable about Dolphin in this environment. I think it may have something to do with it.
Perhaps the RMS server has to be secure as well.
Unity members, please chime in if you have a working https:// site

Thanks, Newton
I also wondered, myself, but along the lines of this: Dolphin was installed prior to SSL certificate. I had to retag 'header_inc' $site(' url') to 'https'.
So, plan A: I'll contact hosting, check out RMS vrs HTTPS. (The desktop video chat worked fine between two of my machines using the Desktop Flash mods.)
We'll go from there, I suppose. Don't even want to think about the dread word 'reinstall'.

Here's my response from server support:
"The RMS does not check http or https, it only checks your domain name. If you have any issues on some browsers this is a development related issue and currently we do not provide development services. Generally IE is quite a different browser and it is acting oddly quite often."
Poor IE... poor picked on developers too bad lots of my poor, indigent acquaintances are still stuck with Vista and IE8, (or older) eg.

Mike,
a re install is probably your easiest thing to do right now..
I will do it for you if you need it done.

just a note on the "poor" users STUCK on IE, nobody is stuck on IE, IE usage is by choice.
FF and Chrome are free, create a block on your site, setting FF and or Chrome as the preferred browser for the best performance on your site. Then if your users opt not to use an alternative browser, that is by choice, and not much you can do for them.
statistically the market share of users on IE is dwindling, there are many who are not even aware that there are other browsers. so you could take this opportunity to educate those who would frequent your site.

DosDawg is correct. Look at the browser usage for a popular page..

Oh, I know that, and you know that.... try to convince 'them' of that.
Some of these friends and family are barely keyboard literate... Ask 'em what browser they're using, the usual response is "whatever came on it". And installing anything new will "break my machine".
(We're of the generation that is much more comfortable when our cell phone is plugged into the charger, since now it has a cord on it... where's that dang dialer wheelie?) And think HTML5 is the quantity count on a can of Hot Spicy Mexican entrees...

yes, i fully understand that many will say "whatever came with it". the very reason for me referencing creating a block, that would state This site best viewed in Firefox or Chrome, and have a link to a page on your site, that has the installation details of either. then a download link that would download from the respective choice.
this is a non-pressured approach. so the person could read it at their liesure, and install it in their comfort zone. when something is broken or not working, this group of folks are antsy, and very uncomfortable that they have broken something.
i provided PC support to a community, where 97% of the residence were 60+,. they wanted only to be able to turn on chat, and their camera and speakers, so they could visit with their children and grandchildren. what we would do, is weekly, just before bingo, and then again before canasta, we would have computer usage workshops, teaching them each how to do small but efficient tasks on the computer.
not all were interested, though they would be hammered by their peers, and not the youth for being lazy.
so yes, i am well aware, but being an enabler to ignorance, is not realy much help either.
my mother-in-law up until last year, referred to her cell phone as her "car phone". she has been educated, and we refer to it as her mobile device, meaning if she is mobile to have it on her and answer. that she need not be in the car to use the "mobile phone" LOL

Well, reinstall of D7 results in exactly the same issues as before. So, blah. I appreciate the help, especially the off-forum time from Newton27
IE8 doesn't like sounds and videos, Android Phone app "process.com.boonex.oo has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." at sounds/videos.
Dawg, thanks for those insights / suggestions!... I'm with you, and this may be a good time to get a few out of the 'stone age'...
aside, but related What about this? http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/firefox%E2%80%99s_future_googles_hands Maybe we're gonna have to start sending Mozilla some hefty donations. If this is true, at some point we may all be a Chromed bumper, whether we like or not...
