Is there a way to assign special memberships?

I have a group of 100 members that are not standard members. These 100 have special privileges. How can these people sign up (or how can I) make it so that their non standard membership is set from Join?

If you want this to happen upon join up you can buy Antons profile spliter and membership splitter I just bought to do exactly that.

I have not had a chance to try it you but it is possible with these mods..

The other option is free and to assign them a membership level that you create through your membership settings in the admin section.You can create a membership type then edit their permissions.

We have a site that needs account activation, which is done manually by our moderators, allowing standard subscription in 2 tipes of profile, and then  each of these with 2 to 3 types of account (some paid), and it works beautifully, with different permissions and authoriy levels.
