JS problems with D7?

None of the JS seem to work in IE8 and Firefox3.

The login buttons don't work.

The builders in Administration don't work.

etc etc

Check the permissions on files, where a mistake.

Ok, sorry for being a novice... can you point me in the right direction? What files should I check permission on, and what should they be at? I had no problems with permissions at installation.

And, http://....../administration/advanced_settings.php - uncheck all checkboxes caching

Correct, no problems.

I don't see ANY checkboxes. Maybe cause JS is broken across whole site?

http://....../administration/advanced_settings.php - Template. Here delete the cache.

No more ideas. Try using a different computer or browser.

Both IE and Firefox complain about a script error on row 6 in a file in the folder cache_public. Can I manually delete this file?

If I go to the administration/index.php I get 3 complaints.

All say:

$ is not defined

Is some php variable not set right or something?

Sorry, re-installed the whole thing and now it works.
