I have a weird problem with my site. My join form will register accounts properly, but for many users it will then "hang" and not return to the confirm screen - obviously an unacceptable user experience. I wrote Boonex support and they have no clue, but my hosting company has been trying to track it down. Since they have a firewall, they suspected some unidentified external call to an outside website, but added permissions for Boonex, Google and several other external sites, but it still didn't work. They then installed D7B7 on their own server, and discovered that the join form does work properly with none of the modules installed. This seems to indicate that one of the modules, or more than one in combination, might be causing the problem. I suppose I could uninstall them all, then reinstall one by one and test, but does anyone here know what might be a good "suspect" module? i.e. Could one of them have some external call that could affect the join form? Any guesses?

I noticed you said for "many" of your users. I'm assuming not all of them. With this in mind, it could be possibly related to a security level setting, cookies, or some other configuration in the web browser (java, activex, flash, etc.). I am sure that you have tried to setup a test account yourself. Does this happen to you also? Nothing to see here |
Yes, it happens to me every time. and as far as I can tell about half the people who register. Boonex said it was fine (naturally) and asked me to clear my browser cache. I did and tested with Firefox, IE and Chrome, and it happened all three times.

Send me your website address via Unity email and I will be more than happy to try myself, if you dont mind. Nothing to see here |
Rob, Curious as to how high you have your security settings on your browser? Also, do you have Java & Flash updated on your browser. I know that Java just released an update (noticed it the other day as it came in)
|
Mydatery - I haven't touched the default settings on my browsers, and tried it in three different kinds. I think Java is updated - not sure about Flash - what do you suspect? |
Rob,
I sent you an email via Unity :)

My hosting company painstakingly narrowed it down to the 'Profile Customizer', 'Profiler' and
'Profiles Map'. Alterhosting rocks! Since I didn't have Profile Customizer installed it must have been one the later two. I just tried it and it worked. In fact, it took me to the set avatar problems I and others have been having. After all the problems these modules have caused, I must admit I don't even know wha those "profiler" programs do. Could someone enlighten me?
